Hello Everyone, I work for a US-Based company that is interested in running BeamNG Drive in our upcoming trade show booth. Our plan is to demonstrate our video-related product while giving people a chance to enjoy BeamNG Drive, my favorite simulator. Our tradeshow is in 2 weeks (!) and we are very busy getting many things ready. I am looking for a contractor with the following credentials: An Adult (able to sign a contract) A good amount experience modding BeamNG Drive Someone who has experience estimating deadlines and meeting them. Someone who loves the game and would like to see it get some exposure! Our requirements for BeamNG are as follows: We need consulting advice and assistance configuring BeamNG to support our trade show booth activity. Broadly speaking… We will be showing our product in the booth and one of the demonstrations is a racing simulator, where visitors can try their skill at a BeamNG Drive scenario. They sit down, one of our staff gives them very simple instructions, the game is started and they play for 2-3 minutes. A list of some specific things we’re interested in: A car skinned with our company's brand. We have a test car that is already skinned and we would like to follow that same design. We can discuss the car choice. Provide a scenario... that is fun and challenging for an average person. (lap times are expected and fun. BeamNG may provide other ways to challenge visitors... ) that booth visitors can race/do the scenario for a limited amount of time. Make it easy to reset the game to a known good spot for the next visitor. Provide a way to record the visitor's score/lap time and name. Display the top 10 (and overhead map?) on a secondary display (stretch goal. secondary display is optional) Provide documentation on how to install the modifications and to be available for questions during our show. If you have more questions or anything isn't clear, please post them here for others. If you're interested and want to talk details, please message me. I'll be most interested in examples of high-quality prior works of art and anything that you can provide that can vouch for your ability to get things done on time. We hope to pay a reasonable amount for high-quality work that works reliably for our tradeshows. We do not want our name associated with an out-of-order demonstration. Thanks, everyone, and cheers! -Andrew
I agree with Alex_Farmer557 but two weeks for writing new code + beta testing ? ? I'm thinking about @Dummiesman too btw
Obligatory not a modder, but it doesn't look like there's actually much modding to do if I'm understanding this all correctly. 1) is just a skin, that doesn't take long 2) is just placing some checkpoints, that's not particularly time consuming either 3 and 6) are basically just "you must exist" since installing mods and resetting the car are both one click procedures 4 and 5 are the difficult ones, unless you're allowed to cheat and manually export the data to another program and work with that
@HighDef is also good with creating scenarios. Skins are easy, although @jedipresence makes some incredibly high quality work Not sure if 4 and 5 are possible?
I would love to help as I am always keen to make BeamNG more accessable and understandable to new people, but I am not sure I can get to the USA as I am saving my pennies at the moment for a new PC, my streams are not working perfectly. I could definitly make a scenario though. Sounds like a great idea. I would recommend having a second pc to manually input the times on a big screen above the driving screen perhaps. I have a friend that makes very nice paintjobs for cars in games too who could help, he has been sponsered by companies in the past for making awesome team themed paintjobs. Let me know if you want to talk more. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCidvqLbyPeExrF6hbDrohTA https://www.beamng.com/resources/authors/highdef.4664/
Hey everyone! Thanks for the replies so far. Items 4 and 5 are stretch goals. However, you would be allowed to run an external application. The main area of interest is the scenario, the skin and the ability to reliably reset things for the next player. I'll take a look more closely at the thread a bit later today. Feel free to message me with interest and thank you to the person who already has replied. I will reach out to you later today, as well. Thank you for the suggestions and the questions! -Andrew --- Post updated --- Good suggestions. However, BeamNG staff took a look at my first post a couple of months ago and didn't get back to in time. I believe they're too busy with the game. If either @ferrettank or @Gamergull would like to message me, the door remains open. --- Post updated --- Hello Hidef and thanks for the links. I'll reply to your msg as well. Your scenarios are very intriguing! A point of clarification: There is no need for anyone to travel or be in a certain country. This can be done over skype, etc. My only concern would be getting payment from the US to a contractor. I'll have to check on that internally, but I'm hopeful it won't be an issue.
Hendrixx's work: (who made the Offroad Trails map https://www.beamng.com/resources/off-road-trials-by-hendrixx.1748/ ) Sorry for the massive dump but if anyone wants paint jobs made, let me know and I can put you in touch.
Hey Everyone, @HighDef has taken on the challenge and has done fantastic work, with the help of others. He/we can't share any pictures until the show starts, but when that happens (and with HIghDef's permissions), I'll be happy to share what he and his team came up with. I'm extremely pleased with the results, even setting aside the very short timeline. Their work + BeamNG's fun-factor are going to make for a fun demo. Thanks, Everyone!
