Avast Free Antivirus is still the best I've come across for generic virus protection.

Norton basically is a virus; i use "Webroot secure anywhere" it has served me well for 3 years now (Not that i have ever needed it, but none the less, it's never caused problems and happily runs on minimum resources). It also offers some online storage (Idk anymore, they changed a lot of stuff and it's practically un-needed anyway) as well as a junk cleaner thingy mabob. It's not free.

I'm sorry but recommending to use no antivirus at all is like recommending the pullout method as a safe form of contraception.

Oh i do i love virus there's probably one eating away at my system 32 right now :|

My avast scan is 60% done and still ZERO infected files.

That's great this avast you speak of made my touchpad on my laptop quit working nice one. Anti-virus is more dangerous then no anti-virus.

    http://gyazo.com/35a0134173bb3a7268ec5da6ed8e2bb8

Here is my result 0 infected files and since it's IMPOSSIBLE to not get a virus i must have one and if the anti-virus couldn't find it what is the point of having it.

yes, because one anti-virus not finding anything means all can't find anything, oh wait, no it doesn't

raiderfan your logic is just.... wow

Let me show you your logic and see if you get it:

You have unprotected sex with a woman. Then she goes to the doctor and finds out she is not pregnant, so you decide to have all sex from now on without protection because so far she hasn't gotten pregnant so why use one?

You see? You don't have a virus... until you have one, and by then your lack of antivirus won't help.

It depends what you click on really...

Between browser pop up blockers that warn you when you click on something
and the fact that Windows has included UAC and Windows Defender since Vista
was released in 2007, which alerts you when anything tries to run without you
knowing it, (unless you turn it off, but I won't go there...) I think it's entirely plausible
to have not had any issues depending on your competency level.

I wouldn't personally recommend not having AV software, but I'd also not get on
a soapbox and try to tell someone that their life choices and opinions are not good
because they're not the same as mine....

you don't have to click ANYTHING, to get a virus, you don't even have to download anything, as long as you ahve an internet connection, you will get a virus

No virus can actively download itself onto your system without something triggering it. Usually that comes in the form of you clicking something, opening a PDF, java web applet or flash object.

It is fully plausible that he has no virus after years of not using antivirus just by not being an idiot and clicking on everything and not installing the flash or java web plugins.

I just think its a horrendously bad idea.
