Thanks for pointing that out I'm actually re-doing all the suspension attachments at the moment anyway, just to be sure, and I found this in the Hopper's suspension JBeam: fx2(l/r) are little support beams on either side of the frame: and fax(1/2)(l/r) are the top and bottom pivots of the front arms. This might be the thing helping to stop the shake. I also found that the thing I'd made, which I'd called the 'body flex mitigator', which stopped the body twisting from side to side when you were steering at a stop, was tugging the suspension too hard, and was what basically made all the shake happen. Getting rid of that fixed it a bit, but there was still some shake, so I'm still working on it.
Actually, I went back to the old setup, and found that most of the shake was to do with the body flexing massively under cornering. With that stiffened, it not only has less and less shake, but corners better too. Steering dampers really do help, as do those cross dampers I talked about.
What does the model look like right now? Do you have all the pets modeled? Or are you modeling as you go?
There's a mix of things at the moment. For example, stuff like the doors and front end have been modelled, but aren't properly in-game yet. On the other hand, stuff like the interior, lights and windows haven't had their models finished or even started yet, let alone aftermarket bits. I'm working out the broken bits of the stuff that's already in-game, and then moving on from those to add new parts (like the exhaust/trunk) to the car, so I'll eventually end up with a finished car. Once I've got there, with a fully-working OEM 4(5)-door, then I'll move onto the Scout and 2(3)-door, and aftermarket bits.
Outer window rubbers have been modelled, and the little indents around the windows on each door/around the C-pillar have been fixed. The windscreens are next. The radiator has been modelled even though the part is already working in-game now, it just needs altering for the 4cyl engines before the model can be put in.
A XJ, nice! I used a '94 XJ cherokee in my automotive class last year, if i had caught this project sooner I could have offered to get good detail pics for interior or exterior, or engine modeling (as it had the 2.5L).
All windows are now complete, and ready for texturing (I'm going to test my texturing skills on the windows and rubbers)
Here are the rubbers on their own, ready for texturing in a new save that I have for only final texturing (so I can't mess up if I want to change it after applying modifiers) You might have noticed that there's an extra rubber for the quarter window which wasn't there before in the first shots of the side rubbers (before the front and rear windscreen ones). After seeing it on the blueprint, I remembered that the older Cherokees had quarter windows like this in the front, and the later ones like mine don't, hence why I forgot Thanks for the support as ever, it really does keep me motivated with this thing
Amazing progress, I swear I just checked this a couple days ago and it was just a shell that exploded when you equipped an exhaust... I'm extremely impressed with your work and excited for this mod!
Window rubbers can be just a simple black/grey gradient with the grey in the middle fading upwards and downwards to black
I'm not 100% sure which model XJ they're basing the Blackfoot off of, but I know the XJ I had in my class used to have chrome window surrounds just like that (used to as it all wore off with age as it was pretty much just taped on) so perhaps they're also going for that look
I already knew about both of these The rubbers don't actually need a texture, they only need a black, relatively shiny material. And yes, some older pre-1988 Cherokees had chrome trim as standard, but I'm not sure whether your class' was actually a '94 considering that. Maybe it was an option.
This things insane but if you put it into the Repository, BeamNG is going to Repo it from the Repository
Well the Bitron (which is my all time favorite mod) doesn't really "state" what it's modeled off of. If you upload your mod, you must leave out what it's based off of out of the description. Many cars have been removed because of this, and the chance that the car companies would get involved. That's why the sketchy Russian sites exist. But I'm just saying. So, do what you want with your mod because it's yours!
Oh sorry, no I didn't. I was just bouncing around forums with real car names found on the posts just to warn people. To be honest, it would've been better for me to read that whole piece right there. Sorry for wasting your time!
