For the past week I've been working on a map with roads. But I seem to get stuck no matter which method I use for roads. Like in the road architect, how on earth do you manually create a roundabout? The default option doesn't suit my needs. Or how do you create one with the other tools? How do you connect the exits? With the road architect I can connect roads and it creates a junction with traffic lights. Sounds great at first but I don't want lights but signs. I can't seem to find out how to do that. How do you set the speed limit with the road architect? If using another tool, how do you let traffic ride on it? Creating roads feels incredibly crappy in every way I've found so far. There must be a better way...
From my own experience: i dont recommend using roadArchitect, its pretty difficult to use, and at least i didnt like it. i create roundabouts manually using decalRoads, and for roads i use RoadSpline (or decalRoads, since im used to it) But its still easiest to use decalRoad because you dont have to deal with any layers, you just assing material and change the priority, and thats it. As for the speed limit for traffic, in the “dynamicField” for the AI path, you enter: speedLimit and set the value in m/s. idk why but BeamNG official documentation (which is btw complete mess) says youre supposed to set this in the “sites editor” but that doesnt work, and the method i use on my map works flawlessly.
Thanks so much! I've been doing some more work, and I also found decal roads to work great. I've also tried road spline. Can I edit that afterwards after saving and loading the game again? I feel like setting the road is easy but making adjustments afterwards is a pain. Good thing to know I'm not the only one that thinks the documentation is terrible... Thanks about the speedlimit. I've been making zones in the editor and setting the limit there, but that indeed doesn't work. The
If you set up road using roadSpline after game restart you can’t again edit using this tool, need to use decalRoads then
