Solved How to make 2 materials the same name without having .001

    Next to the material window on the ride hand side are a plus and minus. Try clicking the plus there and then the little button
    on the left of the plus sign from the 'new' button. Choose your existing material from there. Does that solves anything ?

    Welcome, I've been chewing my keyboard while removing tons of those '00.1 devils' and not having a material too. :)
