    I know that in NZ, that the Caprice was a big step up from the Calais. Around the launch of the VE a top end Calais was around $68,990 (NZD) and a Caprice was $79,990 (NZD)

    It wasn't visually, a lot different to the Calais, just bigger. Not sure on the sales numbers here in NZ, but the Statesman (using the WM body) was very popular as a taxi

    I didn’t know the price gap sheesh. But the statesman real popular in NZ but weren’t that many Caprices. My uncle had a WM statesman and it was a private car which is quite rare.
