    Hey guys,

First off, if this has been mentioned before I apologize. I have a pair of GTX 680's in my system and noticed that my second GPU was not in use while playing Beamng, I've seen a couple other posts saying the same thing. After a bit of tweaking I was able to force SLI in the game and I'm now using both GPU's, in some maps I'm seeing close to double the FPS now! Just follow the steps below to set it up and you should see better performance on your next crash test :D.

I used Nvidia Inspector to make the changes because it has some additional features that are not included in the Nvidia Control panel, however you can also get SLI working by creating a profile in the NVCP and setting "SLI Rendering Mode" to AFR2.

    1. Download and install Nvidia Inspector: http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/nvidia_inspector_download.html

    2. open up the GUI and click the tools icon next to "Driver Version".

    3. Click the "Create a new profile button" and name it.

    4. Click the "Add application to current profile" button and navigate to BeamNG.drive.x86.exe

    5. Scroll down to the SLI section of the profile and change the values to what is shown in the screenshot. (AFR2 SLI rendering mode worked best in my testing, if you have problems you can try different rending modes)

    6. Finally click the "Apply Changes" button and you should be good to go.

The screenshots I included are on the Pure Grid map, the first screen shot is without SLI enabled, the second shot is with both cards working. I run at 1080p resolution with Vsync off, high settings , 16x filtering, 4x AA, and high SSAO. As you can see I was getting about 86FPS before forcing SLI and now I am seeing about 148FPS. The difference is a bit less drastic on some maps, but I have definitely seen much better performance overall and I'm not cooking my primary GPU any more lol. I hope this helps some of you out there who were having the same problem.

    Cheers,

    Good lord in heaven.

I'm living in the past with my OC 9800GT, 60-90FPS on a good day....

148...My mind blows at the mere pondering of such a frame rate.

On topic, great tutorial. I expect those who can SLI but are not able to will read this and make a mess out of their pants.

I was thinking about using my dad's twin 8800GTSs but they use 325 watts. Quite a bit. (He upgraded to a GTX 660)

I upgraded to a GTX 650TI. After buying a second 7750 and failing to get it to crossfire.

Im going to test this now, hold on, i will edit the result here.

Edit: Youp, works. Force-mode 2 yields the best FPS.

Thanks man, 60-90FPS actually sounds pretty decent for a 9800GT running this game. 150FPS in game just makes me wonder what a couple of Titans could put out.. Ahh to be a PC gamer :D

As another user confirmed yes you can also force SLI in the NVCP. I only mentioned using Nvidia Inspector in my tutorial because it actually adds some features that are not available in the NVCP, Thanks for bringing that up I will update the main post in a sec.

The game is definitely still not optimized for SLI. On some maps It almost doubles FPS, on other maps the game will only use 50% of each card so FPS is the same as with a single card. I also get more lag spikes on certain maps using SLI. It's a mixed bag at this point, but when it works it is really nice :).

do you have a sli of GT 630? Why not just a single card that outperforms that sli, you know, more efficient, less heat, etc.

Nice. Now I wish I knew how to do this with ATi cards. My laptop has 2, but I have no idea how to get the game to use both.

hmmmm, quad titans, forced sli mode, i wonder how much fps that would get (provided your cpu could deal with it as well)

Quad titans...hmm...I would suspect something around...god who knows....but I would say you would need a 4770K superclocked to some bonkers numbers to just run it...

Same settings as you, running ~130 FPS on a single 660 Ti... wut.

Yea, I think I may have done this on an older version of the game/display drivers or something. I get about 175fps using a single Gtx 680 now.

Oh good. I was worried my 770(680) wouldn't max the game at 75 fps on veggie maps. What do you get on high detail maps?

Welp, that GPU is pretty not good enough for Beam, and so is the CPU.
