GPWS and TCAS are 2 systems that most of you are aware of. and after some brainstorming, I think it's possible to implement it into the game with the help of the autonomous driving systems from BeamNG.Tech. It is quite simple since both of these systems are simply warnings and not autopiloting. All it would need is to use the vehicle collision radar for cars and extend its detection range, then let the aircraft measure the distance between the terrain ahead and below. when the gears are down the Lua codes should detect it and change the GPWS mode to landing(100, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10, 5), if gears are up then simply play "TERRAIN TERRAIN, PULL UP, PULL UP" or any alternative sound effect. TCAS however is much more complex, but down to the basics, it's just a vehicle radar that detects other aircraft with some calculations of if they are a collision threat or not; if there is a way to let them communicate to see if the other has the same system then a realistic TCAS could be set to tell one to climb and the other to descend. This is only a concept but I hope somebody out there can take inspiration from it to create more aircraft systems for BeamNG!
Well it would require a shit tonne of calculations if we want realistic system, but if we just want a basic one then just make it detect a certain radius like what you said. Or we could let the aircraft communicate with each other in some way like having a detectable value to let the other know if they have TCAS too or not.
yeah, but I feel like we'd need more planes for that first, plus maps fitted for them. I still wonder if we will ever be able to tear beams apart to have for example visible punctures (after say, bullets) or bumpers broken in half.
