If there's no screws or locks to remove, then it's possible to open with hands only. Perhaps a hammer.
Just make sure you're pulling in the right direction, take a look for a handle/dimple in the metal to pull from.

If you can't get it working just send it over to me. I need a crunching machine
Just the CPU, mobo, and PSU. :p

    OH WAIT.

I dealt with a case like this, I'm pretty sure it's also fastened/overlaps under the front bezel. With my old case, I would have to remove the front bezel to take off/put on the side panel.

The bezel almost aways pops off without screws. Pull from the bottom.

otherwise pulling hard is a great way to solve problems with computers.

You are pulling it towards the back of the pc and not to the side right? Shouldn't ever need to remove bezel either, those panels slide backwards maybe an inch and then simply come away.

The tabs are so you can affix a padlock to secure the side panel to the case and/or chain it to the desk.

You could also lay it on its side and put pressure on both hands on the side panel and slide it to the back. That's what I had to do with an emachines case I have.

i7-920? Nice. That's actually a great CPU, probably on a crap board though. But if you buy a GPU, hard drive and a proper case you get a great PC.

I spy a PCIe slot. If you're planning on using that, you should get a reliable 500w power supply. Like not the stock one.

It's an Intel board, look gives it away. The name isn't hard to figure out: X58 is the chipset, M is for Micro ATX and 01 is simply a model number.
    It should be good enough.
My advice, keep the CPU and mobo, it's a pretty good CPU even by today's standards and will save you a lot of money when building a PC. Buy everything else (a good PSU, a good case, a graphics card, hard drive) and build a nice gaming PC. You might want to buy some RAM (2x4GB DDR3 isn't too expensive) Eventually you can upgrade CPU if you want to, but it should be a good gaming CPU for the next year or so. Just get a great card and don't worry about having to upgrade that later.

I absolutely envy you, I really want a Nehalem i7. I don't know why, I just love them. Especially the 990X.

I just looked it up, has a lower clock speed than I thought. Still, it's pretty good (outperforms any Haswell i3), and it's nothing a little OC can't fix. It seems to have a decent cooler, so 3.4 GHz shouldn't be too hard to reach. Stock it's 2.66, boosts to 2.9.

The core i7s in first gen had 8xx that were 4c/8t, and then 9xx that had some 4c/8t and some 6c/12t, with an unlocked multiplier. The core i7 8xx didn't have an unlocked chip until the 875k later.

You don't pull out case fans, you unscrew them.

As long as it's not conductive, should be okay. (Wood, glass, cardboard, etc. Don't use an antistatic bag like the one boards come in, those are usually conductive.)

Saab 9-5 Wagon, never made it to production. Personally I think it's a pretty good looking car. Opinions?

The c-pillar and roofline is a little awkwardly designed, but overall, it's quite nice!

Look at the picture below, the CPU has two small dents that fit in the socket.
