Re: General discussion chat Got one of these on the way: https://estore.ti.com/eZ430-Chronos-868-Chronos-Wireless-development-tool-in-a-watch-P1735.aspx They are on offer, 60% off with the coupon code "CHRON_SCORE" I need a new watch and as someone that already plays with MSP430 family microcontrollers, to have an MSP430 dev kit in watch format is kinda cool, although in all honesty it will probably remain as a plain old watch rather than anything fancy schmancy
Re: General discussion chat I don't know, man... I just don't know. It was an awfully shocking experience.
Re: General discussion chat Well we just dropped the firebird's engine onto concrete. Had it on the engine stand. Tried to move it but got it off balance. Fell down like a sack of potatoes. Everything's alright by the looks of it. The only thing bent is the exhaust attachy thingy on the manifold. Put a massive chip in the concrete though. Rather that than the engine block.
Re: General discussion chat Yikes! I friend of mine had that happen last year, we had a 350 engine bored and stroked to 383 that we were going to put in his truck. Had the engine finished and ready to be dropped in. The old, ultra cheap POS engine stand actually broke and the engine fell just a few feet from are feet! Oil pan was trash and the right valve cover was dented bad, but those were the only things damaged, oh yea except the giant cracks on the concrete from were the engine hit! After this incident he made sure to buy a GOOD quality engine stand, got the engine all together and in the truck. That 383 had a crap load of torque and the thing did some killer burnouts!
Re: General discussion chat Most of the weight fell on the exhaust manifold, which held up. There is a little dent in the oil pan. Not sure what we're gonna do about that. The sound of 500+ pounds of iron falling onto concrete though. Damn.
Re: General discussion chat Fucking. Hell. My DNS servers for my home internet are down, so I cannot play ANYTHING that requires a server address. I can still use the internet just fine.
Re: General discussion chat Open network & sharing centre, change adapter settings (left hand side), find the device you are actually connecting to the internet with, right click > properties, In the "This Connection Uses The Following Items" list find "Internet Protocol Version 4", click that (but not the tick box of course) and then click properties. Finally there should be a radio button for "Obtain DNS Server Address Automatically" already selected, swap to "Use the following DNS Server Addresses" and choose a primary and secondary DNS of your choice You can leave them blank for no DNS at all, or you can only fill in the primary and leave the secondary. Google maintain a DNS on 8.8.8.8 with a backup address of 8.8.4.4 so these make good primary and secondary values. They also have an IPv6 DNS on 2001:4860:4860::8888 and 2001:4860:4860::8844 (yeah, IPv6 addresses are written differently) If windows is set to auto then it will use the DNS addresses indicated by the gateway (or in plain english, your modem will have a selection of DNS addresses for your ISP set into it already). I have personally altered the settings on my modem, left the default DNS as is but switched the secondary DNS to be 8.8.8.8, my laptop is on auto. Found the BT DNS would go down every now and then, swapping the secondary to be googles stopped that effecting me.
Re: General discussion chat I already tried this, twice, and it didn't work. I tried it once more, and it didn't work (after you suggested it). So, what else could be a fix for this?
Re: General discussion chat well in that case. Time to turn off and on everything And perhaps set DNS back to auto.
Re: General discussion chat already done both, talking with ISP currently D: okay, ISP is of no help, because they want to charge $14.99 a month for at least one year to potentially solve a single fucking problem. so, Six, I may need some advice from you too, if you have any more.
Re: General discussion chat wow, idk who your isp is, but there assholes also, what have you tried so far (and with the dns thing, did you only try changing your computer's settings? or did you try changing the routers as well, as i believe some routers override your pc's settings)
Re: General discussion chat I have already tried both, and I am currently running a full scan on my PC, just in case. Edit/Update: My parents said that we might switch to our new internet plan early. I think it's the $15 a month for at least a year bullshit for one problem that did it for them. I will be getting 50/5 hopefully if I persuade them well enough.
Re: General discussion chat The modem doesnt have the power to override the PC's DNS manual DNS settings. DNS requests are served directly from the PC, the router has no interaction with them, the only link is of course the PC getting its default DNS setting from the router (through DHCP I believe). If over-riding DNS hasnt worked, then it likely isnt a case of the DNS being down. I have come across this issue on a powerline adapter once. Fix was as simple as rebooting all the networking hardware in the house. If you've tried that, I'm all out of ideas.
Re: General discussion chat http://hackaday.com/2014/07/13/introducing-the-raspberry-pi-b/ Mistake? Or marketing ploy?
Re: General discussion chat Or 3rd option: hoax, he hasn't powered it in whereas that's the first thing I'd do. If its legit. I like it won't be getting one though. My B works just fine and I can't afford to be buying more compootah stuff.
Re: General discussion chat I have decided to just get a proxy until we switch providers, and that [didn't] fix the issue, but I can play on stuff now. On that note, is Spotflux a fine enough service? Remember, I have 5/1, so if it downthrottles me or something, I will be used to the speed being slow.
