I guess so. Better hope they don't figure out how to get your IP.

Every IT hired for the system sucks really badly. They can't figure out how to refresh a LAN network. :/

Admitting to that on a public forum is quite possibly the dumbest thing you can do.

Doesn't ddosing kinda need a large amount of computers/servers with decent connection to ping another server to death (basically denying anyone else to connect and flooding the server with requests (slowing it down))?

As far as i understand yes, you need a botnet that you can call upon to pull them down. Such botnet would usually be created through infecting innocent peoples computers with viruses. Without that you are doing nothing but trying to DDOS them with your own IP address alone. Whether that will show up as a standard request or whether it would be picked up as an attack by the school system i have no idea. But in either case Kitteh5 is truly a bit dull. Not just for posting that he was doing this publicly on the internet while trying to attack them but also for wanting to waste the time of the Admins. By virtue of the fact that your school has a working network they are doing fairly well. Stop being a prat.
We had a guy in our school who stole an Xbox 360 from the music department (they use rockband with drumsets with lower school) and then posted that he had an Xbox 360 for sale on his facebook page the next day. He was thrown out.

It did nothing, recieved as traffic. I just needed to be un-bored. I'm sorry if I'm a bit off. New Year's killed my brain.

thats DDOSing, not DOSing. Distrubuted Denial Of Service.

Do you even understand how DOS/DDOSing works?

It IS traffic, a massive amount of traffic that overloads the target server and prevents real traffic from being allowed through.

My district's IT guys don't even know how to connect to a network. They've forgotten all of the network passwords.

yeah, thats still a failing of terminology. The network never takes it as an attack. a DOS is literally a case of generating so much traffic that there is too much congestion for regular traffic. If it fails, you just arent generating enough traffic or more likely the switch inbetween you and the rest of the network has detected it and simply shut your port down.
