Mugging involves having the shit beat out of you, so I don't exactly see that as a way to have some fun :\
Would be interesting to do to a pick pocketer or something, though.

    God.
I don't ever want to live in a country where it's illegal to defend yourself.
Flick blades and butterfly blades are legal here, although switch blades aren't.
Of course it's illegal to threaten someone with a knife over here, too. That's a logical law.

If only they would just roll over...

People in the UK don't tend to be paranoid about protecting themselves. Its not much of an issue here or something people worry about.

It would have been kinda ironic if it got stolen :p

I needs it with IcEnhancer and possibly a HD texture pack (along with a new GPU)

Dont worry, you carry a means of defending yourself, it will be fine
^That was very much a tongue in cheek comment btw^

It's perfectly legal to defend yourself here. Just as long as you don't use anything stupid. Like a gun, for instance.

Dont underestimate a 1.5' blade. Even if you stab someone in a relatively "safe" area like the thigh, it can seriously screw them up. Now, if you twist the blade after it goes in, it fucks their shit up. The wound cant be stitched closed. I carry a knife with me everywhere i go. Not for potential use as a weapon (although i will if it comes down to it). I see a knife as a tool. And in fact, living in a rural area, i use a knife all the time as a tool. Im just glad that knife laws arent crazy in my area.

I'm late to the marching band topic, but we had our competition yesterday and finished first in our class!

It was 20F, raining, and windy. 8/10 would band huddle and grow hands back to do again.

We have finals next week. We finished 4th last year overall, and I hope we do better this year!

Well hes correct as far as UK law is concerned, You are not allowed to use excessive force. A gun would be classed as that and since you aren't allowed to carry them (with a couple exceptions) you would be under serious scrutiny any way.

Just done a bit of web browsing, this site seems to do a decent job: http://www.selfdefenceweaponsuk.co.uk/ (just ignore the header image :p )

Note that one of the "Legal UK weapons" is an LED torch :D

I was just poking at him about his seemingly constant anti-american stance. He seems to dislike all things truly american like muscle cars, guns, and our entire government. :p

I'll just say, there are a good many situations where I do not see a gun as excessive force. Would I be able to remember everything I'd be taught in that situation? Would I be too stressed to react quick enough? I don't know. I do know I'd rather have a gun in those situations than a knife.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Also, I imagine a flashlight or a hitstick wouldn't be a bad choice.

    EDIT:

    I'm a friend. :p

Well since its illegal to carry something that you intend to use as a self defense weapon you wouldn't be allowed a hit stick since it would be hard to justify.

If you ever come to the UK and you really feel like you need to carry a weapon my best advice for you is to bring an old Nokia. At least you can then justify it :p

No, there was nothing to fix. Stop making people's quotes incorrect.
