Re: General discussion chat I love where I am at right now. I mean Fort Wayne isn't exactly a big city so there isn't a whole lot to do, but the population is pretty dense so it's pretty hard to find too much redneck country around here. I would really like to move to downtown Chicago, but realistically that won't happen.
Re: General discussion chat I just got an old PC from a friend. Pentium 4 CPU, socket 478, 2GHz. Still not sure about the GPU. Any good Linux distros to install on it? Or I might just use Windows XP. Right now it's running (or rather not running) Ubuntu 13, barely works. I have no idea why he thought installing it was a good idea.
Re: General discussion chat Really? I thought WinXP would be worse. Have you tried an older Ubuntu or disabling some of the effects?
Re: General discussion chat Windows XP was released in 2001, of course it will work properly on a 2002 cpu. Ubuntu 13 was released in 2013. Not really made for 11 year old hardware.
Re: General discussion chat Try Crunchbang. I have it running on a P4 2.8 HT with 1.5GB of RAM. It runs so smooth.
Re: General discussion chat Ubuntu is just awful when it comes to performance. Slower than windows in my experience. Now crunchbang, that is a cool distro and runs on a potato of a PC just fine.
Re: General discussion chat I like the south mainly because there are civilized, upscale areas and cities like where I live, but just a 30 minute drive can get you out into redneck hick country where everything is legal.
Re: General discussion chat RSPCA are useless cunts and call me a discriminate bastard but gyppo travellers are just awful people. And yes, I know at least 1 forum user is a traveller, maybe he can talk sense into the rest of the violent, thieving, animal abusing thugs. Particularly the ones who own the farm opposite.
Re: General discussion chat Well, here's a story. My high school marching band has been winning every competition we've been to. Not only first in our class (7A) but best in show, best color guard, best drumline, best hornline, best drum majors, etc. Today we had our last competition. (Obviously the last ever for the seniors) It was about 44f (really cold for the south in early November) with 20mph wind so windchill is down in the mid-low-thirties. We come in and get 8th out of 9. We were the first to perform in our group, and right after us it warmed up by about 5-10 degrees and the wind stopped. Really kinda made me sad. It wasn't a good note (punny) for the seniors to end in and just sucked in general.
Re: General discussion chat Bro, my marching band came stone dead last at this year's "Midstates" competition... and last year... and the year before. It took us until the last qualifier mini-competition for OMEA (Ohio Music Education Association) to qualify for state competition by .6 this year... and last year... and the year before. Fucking Lakota East winning all the things... Fucking Milford winning all the things at Midstates.
Re: General discussion chat Man stfu. Australians are paying upwards of $1.60AUD/litre, or $5.20USD/gallon. You guys are paying what, $3USD/gallon?
Re: General discussion chat $2.91 ($3.51 in Aussie money) a gallon an hour ago. $3.90 (4.43) 4 months ago.
Re: General discussion chat The PT Cruiser has a plastic intake manifold and makes no apologies for it.
Re: General discussion chat Gas in my town has been getting really cheap lately. ($3 a gallon this morning.)
