It wasn't screamo actually. It'd be more like heavy metal, or the ones I mostly listen too, nu-metal.

Well, not all heavy voices seem childish. Corey Taylor does scream (especially in the self-titled album), but he does sound pretty good at it. (Well, maybe to plenty to people the annoying part of their songs.)

Bon Jovi and metal don't belong in the same sentence unless there's a very big "isn't" between them. You very obviously don't know what alt metal is

Does it look like I know? Ask the band then, they already know what genre they are (in).

I listen to plenty of metal, good variety of it be it power, thrash, speed, heavy, industrial etc. What I am saying is that the particular track you linked was crap, it abused autotune ridiculously, fucking over the top levels of it

Agree, also it does not matter really what genre which band is, as long as one listens what one likes, not what one excepts others him/her to listen to.

But, this is metal, not popular music like some 'metal' is:

    Ok, I get my coat...

Was that some kind of pop band?

I find it amusing though, that when ever I describe my musical taste or especially play sample song, people start to quickly find other things that they should be doing, I wonder why, there is nothing bad in young pretty girl singing?

It's called Nu-Metal, it is like Pop music I guess but 100 times worse...

Other bands that do this so-called genre are Limp Bizkit and apparently Linkin Park too

OT: I once again take the risk of being flame war'd to death and post some Doom Metal, which I happen to like very much

I think it's a bit like Psychedelic Rock in a sense that it tries to emulate the effect of certain drugs hence the name "Stoner Doom". I'm aware of "Drone Doom", which is even slower, but I wouldn't consider that to be music to be honest...

Ah, they sound like beach boys over metal guitar track, maybe easier to feed to general public then.

Appealing to the general public is a key to success mind you, that's especially true in the music industry

You are talking to someone who used to listen punk, until it did go lame. There was no room for pleasing public or trying to make most money possible in punk originally.

What I find funny is that today there are more punk attitude in some heavy metal bands than in Punk.

We can then think about is it art or just a job to make living and is the general public pleasing band then better as it stays afloat and makes lot of money?

Is it then really better to have that 'success' or to be true to own art?

This sold 18 000 copies at 2001, band was formed at early 90's and is still active:

There are bands that have been more 'successful' in regards of sales and general acceptance, but still failed. One must ask, what is the success, is it success in performing own art or gaining general acceptance and treasures?
