"Another “experimental engine”, Lexi, nods towards a more fluid approach to gender. She is “cab forward”, even though she is convinced this this makes her “an un-useful engine.”" I wanna fucking die.
We're raising a generation of SJWs, I swear. All thanks to media outlets pandering to whiners. It's quite sad.
Mmkay guys, the new engines are not specifically autistic or gender-fluid, just socially awkward and cab-forward - even if they were explicitly what you say, why would you care? Aren't you guys a bit old for Thomas the Tank Engine? Go ahead and keep whining about "evil SJWs stealin muh freeeedum," and I will keep laughing that you people seriously give a damn about Thomas the Fucking Tank Engine. Only one whining here is you
Well its kinda just sad and funny in the same way a fat guy falling down the stairs is. I'm just more worried about why they think it should be pandering trash when its just a kids show. The later kids need to learn about this political, gender, meme shit the better off they are.
Well the difference is that a fat guy falling down the stairs doesn't have a following of millions of children who need characters they can identify with - even if this means "oh noooo, there's a socially awkward train in muh kids show!!!" There are socially awkward kids, it's okay, get over it. You seem to be under the impression that Thomas the Tank Engine has literally plagiarized [insert radical feminist Tumblr link here], or something. All they have done is add a cab-forward engine. That is a cab-forward locomotive engine. Scary, right? Clearly it was designed by evil Commie Nazis who want to corrupt our children! </sarcasm> Anyhow, here's Lexi's bio from the Thomas wiki: "Lexi is an eager and excitable engine. She is proud of being experimental and 'cab-forward'- even though she is convinced this makes her an un-useful engine. Lexi is upbeat, cheery and outgoing, and likes to experiment with how she presents herself, often trying out different voices and how she phrases her expressions just to see which one she thinks works best. Lexi is not always confident she gets things right, but she loves the excitement of anything new, is very sociable, and keen to explore new things." Do you see anything about "gender meme shit?" Please, tell me, and show me the exact excerpt containing the memes. And yes, I do agree, small children should not be involved in politics. They need to grow, to have fun, not to be scared of an angry Cheeto. Theo, the "autistic" character, is the positive character. He will overcome his awkwardness and pessimism as he develops as a character. That is how good stories work - characters overcome their flaws. Dude, do you really trust Huffington Post? You know, the news website with extensive commentary on such important current events as celebrity sideboob? Also, https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Poe's_Law. You're welcome. /rant
Kids young enough to watch Thomas the tank engine are not really developed enough to be socially awkward, unless they have some condition of course. Plus surely a positive character should be what you want them to aspire to and try to overcome their awkwardness?
Too bad it's probably too late http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/entry/is-peanut-butter-and-jelly-racist_n_1874905
I'm guessing you've never been on Facebook, or similar then. There's rarely a time where someone isn't whining about something
I did say "here," didn't I? I'm not whining, I'm laughing my ass off because a bunch of grown-ass adults are complaining that "commies took over my tank engine and sammiches!1!!"
I swear, some people try to just create conflict. It's a food product. It isn't even alive. It's fruits, sugar and peanuts. Things like that are one of the many reasons that I hate people. The thing with the cat* earlier is another... Edit: I fixed a word
I usually find it awkward how TV shows and movies try to picture characters who suffer from autism. It's like they want to make people care about it and want to fight some preconceived ideas, but end up using those same ideas.
Content Removed I said some dumb things in the past, this especially. You can see what was said in the quoted reply, and I'm not proud of it. I've since learned how important gender identity is for people, and have not held this bigoted opinion for some time.
Well its not that upfront obviously, but its the idea behind it. It adds a certain amount of "confusion" to things and thats not exactly a healthy path you want your kids to go down in a long run.
