Subaru... Buying a Ford... Mustang... Hopefully. So, I'll have my Mustang and my good ol' GMC Sonoma. Still got my spunky little Chevy Mini-Truck and I'll have my Ford Pony Car.
They're retiring the old mail trucks? Huh. You know they're actually S10's underneath right? Seriously, they're 82-93 S10's with Iron Duke 4 cylinders and TH180's. They even have the same gauge cluster and steering wheel as the S10's. Albeit right hand drive.
Well, they declined me financing for the Mustang. Day went from 100-0 right quick. Edit: Scratch that, suddenly they found a way to finance the car. My fingers couldn't be anymore crossed than they are. Edit 2: I pick up my Mustang on Friday.
Meh, didn't even order it from their webside, I actually ordered it from a local phone shop so I can take it there if it needs to get fixed.
What's wrong with the Mercedes actros? Or the sprinter if you are talking about the vans and not the lorries. This sort of thing is typical over here:
econolines and chevy expresses are still vans you see EVERYWHERE where I live, but the new ford transits are taking America by storm.
Sprinter's are probably the best vans you can get. Much better design than any outdated american vans. (Express, E-series, etc.) The transit and other European vans have good designs too I guess, but the Sprinter is the most reliable as far as I'm concerned.
Being outdated doesn't automatically make a design bad. There's no point in redesigning and constantly trying to improve a proven design that works fine. I don't mind the Transits themselves, but I'm obligated to hate them because they're taking the place of Econolines.
Yes there is Especially when it improves fuel economy, lowering costs. Improves carbon output of the engine helping the environment (assuming vehicles are replaced when at EOL with new models rather than the old models). Improves vehicle safety, reducing the number deaths (both drivers and pedestrians). As well as improving the quality of life for the people that have to drive them.
When I see Econolines and Expresses I think they have free candy in the back. The design of American vans is hopelessly stale, and I hope stuff like the Ford Transit influences designs on larger vans for GM and others.
If we really wanted to help the environment we'd stop making new cars. The idea of buying a new car to use less gas and pollute less is ridiculous. I guess you are right, as Econolines are retired because they hit their service limit they are replaced with Transits, which are more fuel efficient and pollute less. I just fucking hate to see the "Europization" of the American car industry, and Ford is really pushing it.
