The MSI Z170 Krait is easily the best looking board I've seen yet. Black/white looks so awesome. (imported from here) - - - Updated - - - Gigabyte Gaming 5 looks amazing too, higher end models have a huge bulky I/O cover though. (imported from here)
And here's me sitting using a tiny Gigabyte H61MA-D2V with a 65-foot long GPU sticking off of it. But to be fair it works perfectly, I don't need overclocking or any other "special" mobo features, so if it isn't broken I'm not going to fix it.
So my OCZ SSD has been an error-throwing file-corrupting piece of crap for the last year and a half. I've had to do about 5 OS reinstalls and it never fails to mess something up, causing Windows to restart to repair drive errors all the time. I'm guessing it's the problem behind my Windows 10 upgrade bootloop. So it's time for a new SSD. Might as well go all-out and get a 512GB Samsung 850 Pro. Apparently it's a good SSD. Anyone have some advice?
Those are amazing SSDs. I can give you no advice other than to go for one. And possibly look at some SanDisk drives, I've got one and it's so fast that the Windows boot screen doesn't even show. Try also looking at the Intel 730 Series NVMe drives.
Wait on Windows 10. There are so many bugs that it should still be in beta. Also, update your graphics drivers.
how come my ghz is 3.74 when i have a 3.40 ghz i7 allso how come im using 99-100% of disk at startup?
1: Because it's a K-processor which means it is overclock-able. 2: Because your computer is reading (and writing?) startup files from and to your disk. Maybe it is loading possible startup programs like Steam or MSI Afterburner.
Intel's turbo boost. It's amazing, like a stock overclock for extreme situations. Startup files utilizing the disk, nothing to be scared of.
Turbo Boost is automatic, the CPU will clock up to it's max under correct thermal and load conditions. During games, it'll usually clock up to max. The max frequency for a 3770k is 3.9 GHz, with a stock frequency of 3.5 GHz.
So my mouse is having problems, it sometimes double-clicks when I only clicked once. It seems to be a driver issue with Logitech mice. If I can't get it fixed I might replace it for a Corsair M65, I really want a higher DPI sensor anyway, and being able to have a poll rate over 125Hz without killing battery life.
I have no idea. I'd like to say that DX12 is more OS and way more software oriented than previous DX versions, but I don't know.
It's $314.99 CDN new, so I imagine you could sell it for $100. People aren't willing to spend too much on hardware like that.
And the search for a keyboard goes on, still.... Love tenkeyless but to this day nobody makes one at a reasonable price that is suitable for me. Closest I can afford would be Razers Blackwidow Tournament Edition or Corsairs K65 Vengeance. Except the blackwidow is an MX Blue clone switch, I will be in a shared house and will be pissing people off left right and centre with blue switches (as yes they are that loud), besides, I myself dont like a keyboard sat infront of me to be that loud, they do not sell it in the Razer Orange switch type in the UK, but even then, the tactile bump in the orange is so small versus the original MX Brown that they might aswell call it an MX Red. The K65 is MX Red exclusive, dont like typing on reds, I dislike reds so much that I'd rather keep my full tenkey'ed membrane keyboard that cost me about £5 rather than use a K65. And so the search continues. Ducky dont offer tenkeyless in UK layout, they do offer 60% in UK layout but I want TKL, expensive. Das, expensive, also dont think they bother with a UK layout. WASD actually do offer a true 88 key ISO layout keyboard, absolutely perfect, brown switches available and all, but its 150usd, plus 47 to ship to UK. I cant afford that sort of money.
Hey 6677, cherry is making silent switches for corsair now. I don't think they're in a keyboard yet, but it might be worth checking out. There are also o-rings, but I don't know how well they work.
Ooh, what Dell? Mine has the i7 920XM and it's an M4500. If it's a higher end Precision than mine in decent condition (Apart from the board) I might consider buying it.
