So this USB 3.0 PCIe card has driver software (does not autorun, but was added to start menu), it is the sketchiest looking driver software I have seen. There is no documentation for it anywhere, so I guess I just stick it into UASP mode and hope that it doesn't cause problems?
So you can watch it on a 7th gen Atom with 2gb ram in Microsoft Edge but can't watch it on an over clocked, water-cooled 6950x with 256gb of ram and 4 Titan Pascals in Chrome? That's Apple level elitism right there...
I wanna know what happens if you make a Windows installation, like maybe if you install the bootcamp drivers it will actually work
HDCP is the most ludacris bit of DRM the world has seen so far... And it's only going to get worse, because they can get away with worse.
I am in the market for a new graphics card, is it worth paying extra for the 6GB version of the 1060?
Yeah, I hate how I have to cover my second monitor with a hoodie when watching amazon prime since if you turn the monitor off it stops reporting a HDCP compliant and Amazon kicks you out.
DRM is a funny thing, like an attempt to stop things that arent possible to stop. I watched the grand tour episode one at 1080p from a torrent 30 minutes after it came out and I had a better experience than paying customers....
Hi! I have a HP Phoenix Envy. I like it. I'm not a computer guy, and that's all I know about computers. Their name.
It's something that nobody quite has a grasp of if they hold some significant power. Anything to do with security or avoiding "illegal copying" is code. It's just a logical argument, to which someone smarter than you will always come up with a better argument to counter it. Corporations and governments are likely to never see it this way.
It's finally built! It works and it's fast. But I do have a problem, I forgot the WiFi adapter. Quick $20 fix on Amazon. Will upload benchmarks when I can actually download them
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/znBYQV It has only an old, crappy usb wifi adapter, so i'll upload benchmarks when i can download them. Update: I loaded beamng.drive into a thumb drive, and not only does it run at 60fps, but I can crash stuff into other stuff. My laptop couldn't do 1/10 of that.
Yesterday I found out that my Thinkpad T420 doesn't like playing DiRT 3, even at pretty much the lowest settings and using dedicated graphics. The processor was hitting 98°c just running the benchmarks in-game and I wasn't hitting 60fps.
Have you cleaned the heatsink and replaced the thermal paste? They really benefit from that, mine did. Also downloading a program called TPfancontrol "ThinkPad fan control" helps.
I cleaned the heatsink using compressed air a few weeks ago. Haven't replaced the thermal paste yet. I'm not going to actually game on it, so it should be fine for a while still. It was mainly just a test to see if it could run that.
