This console generation is a fucking joke. The PS4 and XBO were outdated the moment they were released.
They struggle to run new games at 30 fps, sometimes even having to lower the resolution to 720p. A slightly more expensive PC can run those games with better graphics in 1080p at 30-60 fps, and is also cheaper in like 2 years since you don't have to pay for online gaming.

Yeah i was pretty disappointed when I heard the specs of both of them to the point that I bought a wii u wich will play a lot of games in 1080p wich i am still surpriced with because the technology of that thing is even more outdated as my pc

There's a deeper problem then. It really likes to freeze, and it's just generally slow (but wow it renders crap fast). I may never understand.

this will now be the third time i've uninstalled then hidden that stupid update

FOR FUCKS SAKE MICROSOFT, I DON'T WANT WINDOWS 10, SO STOP OVERRIDING MY HIDDEN UPDATES

    sigh...

on another topic, i think the drive in my siblings laptop has finnally crapped itself, windows 7 just outright refuses to boot past "Failed to configure windows updates, reverting..." and if i try to boot into my windows 7 usb to try doing a system restore, it BSOD's into a 0x0000024 error before it even finishes booting into setup

can't do a factory restore either, as that can't find the recovery partition for some reason (i'm guessing i must have wiped all the partitions at some point when resetting it for probably the 5th time because my siblings just don't understand the words "DON'T DOWNLOAD OR INSTALL ANYTHING WITHOUT ASKING FIRST" and just don't remember)

Don't give them admin access. Keep the admin password to yourself and have them call you to unlock UAC every time they want to install something, that way you have control over what's installed. It's what I do with every PC I'm responsible for (aka, user will call me when it breaks).

Easiest way to keep people who don't know what they are doing from breaking everything or releasing their personal information to the deep web. They won't be very happy, but they'll be safe.

the thing is: i have it setup exactly like that, they still manage to fuck everything up

anyway, so far it seems that the HDD may not be the problem, as the built in HDD test on the laptop says it's fine (at least on the quick test) and no complaints so far on the full test (at 90% atm)

Then you need Tier 2 Luser Protection.

    Install Linux.

The T9550 is a great CPU, had it in my previous laptop. It can run Beamng with decent fps, it is actually slightly better than my current i5 (2nd generation, 1.6 ghz dual core).

Let it serve as punishment for being destroyers of software.

Ok, so that might not be the best solution. In that case you'll need Tier 3 Luser Protection: Freeze the PC.
This means using software which restores the file system on reboot - any changes will be lost. Most software should let you whitelist drives or folders (ie documents, downloads etc).

This is very effective. You should probably explain it to the user, maybe leave a readme file somewhere as CYA - when they lose files you can point to it and say 'told you so'. You can then let them download all the malware they want, it'll all be gone with a simple reboot.

well'p, i guess my ISO was messed up, as i downloaded a new one, flashed to my flash drive, and it booted up no problem, did a system restore, and hey, windows 7 is up and running again

now to look into deep freeze software

Got another 1TB drive. Won't be running out of space for a while, I have 1TB just for games and over 500GB free.

    Now I can't afford a PSU D:
I'll have to wait, but I really needed more storage.

Also. Windows thought it would be fun to put a recovery partition in the middle of my drive. Now I have to boot into a Linux live USB and delete it to use the space from my old game partition.

    holy crap im lucky.
I just put a random hdd in my laptop, and it booted into windows .didnt have to do anything. bad news is the hard drive is dead, it boots into windows then stops reading and windows freezes. So i put in my old ssd from my gaming desktop with windows 8 on it and it booted as well. THats crazy.
