Man that's ugly. It also looks like it's supposed to be a long haul truck. You'd think manufacturers would be going for short distance city trucks first since that makes a lot more sense with current battery tech. I can imagine electric garbage trucks, delivery trucks, buses etc. before I can imagine an electric truck being practical for the long haul.

As I covered earlier. Welcome to capitalism. Companies don't care about unemployment

Also worth noting, self driving vehicles will be far cheaper to operate. Therefore the cost of goods will also go down, therefore the cost of living will go down, therefore number of hours people need to work will go down. To be clear, this isn't a new theory, its been in practice very much over the last 100 years, people on average work far fewer hours than they used to and the standard of living has improved greatly. Since 100 years ago people worked for the majority of their waking hours, these days people have (more) free time.

I can see the argument being posted in response to this comment being that companies will pocket the difference. However just take one look at how aggressive supermarkets are when it comes to pricing from their suppliers and trying to offer lower prices than their competitors.

And employing people for the sole purpose of employing people is not productive, cause there are plenty of countries that will be more than happy to undercut wherever you live by offering cheaper products and services because they adopted automation to a greater level. At which point the local businesses near you go out of business any way because they can't compete.

Not entirely true; high unemployment = fewer consumers, that's a very big issue with companies. Automation is great, it actually encourages skilled labor (at least in the case of production, you'll always need specialized operators and mechanics), and automation helps keep unnecessary costs, worker workloads, and injury risks down.

So how have the first 1000 miles on your Focus been?

Correct me if it's actually a Fiesta.

Friend of mine's dad accidentally bought an 07 Chrysler town and country or $500 at an auto auction. It is mint and has about every option besides leather seats. AC is even cold. Only issue is that reverse is out, but the forward gears all work fine so it doesn't matter.
    Thing is tons of fun.

Well, in this case, he just happened to be the last one to place a bid.
