So these Firestone Destination M/T's like the ice even less than my Super Swampers do, I assume it's because the Swampers are such a soft compound, where the Firestone's are hard wearing.
My biggest beef with the old focuse sedans, by far, is the rear visibility. It's atrocious. It has a bit of a sloping beltline, so the trunk lid is considerably higher up than the hood as it is. On top of that, my friend's has the goofy little spoiler on the back, which even further blocks your view. You can see absolutely jack shit out of the back of that thing. I really can't get over how much fun they are though
My aunt had all of them but now is furios at ford because they dont make them anymore i never knew what she likes about them designwise because she loves them for theyre design. In my opinion it looks really horrible bit that could be because i dont like sedans in general
Car I most wish I could afford right now: X300 or X308 Jaguar XJR, black on black, tinted lights and windows, loud pipes, the works, with a vanity plate reading "MAYHEM". And if you get that reference, you win the internet.
Car I most wish I could afford right now: Any car. But seriously I want a Legnum VR4 with AYC in Trigger Mauve pearl. Only one year left of school for me baby!
Is that a zx5? I drove my cousins once and my only complaint was the ABSURDLY heavy flywheel. not a bad commuter car at all.
Like it's a 2500lbs car with 150hp. Sounds good but with 1000 extra pounds of people in it, it gets pretty ponderous and slow. ZX3. Total base model. Not even A/C. 120k miles for $700. Told me it had the 2.0L Zetec engine but he popped the hood and I noticed it wasn't... (Duratec has intake on front, exhaust in back) I didn't say anything. So, It's the 150hp 2.3L Mazda3 engine backed with the 5-Speed. Only available in 5 states for 2003. Also means timing chain and not belt which is my favorite pro over the Zetec.
It doesn't really like to rev but, it has decent power starting at like 2000rpm. Secondaries open at 4000rpm and peak torque is at 4250 I think. Peak HP is around 5700. Not a revver but it's really good around town. It's quicker than my Grand Marq and my friends P-71 couldn't pass me 20-40mph.
Went for a drive last night to get the last few hours of my L plates done, while on the road, just driving the 60kmh speed limit and the check engine light comes on. I pull over open the bonnet and of course there is nothing wrong that i can see. (Checked oil and coolant this morning, wasn't those). So i get back in the car and gently drive it home, going about 60kmh instead of the 80kmh limit. On the way home though, there was a steep hill that i had to go down and because it coasted down the hill off throttle the light decided to go off. However it came back on just after i had to accelerate to get up another small hill and stayed on for the rest of 10 minute journey home. With my slightly mechanically minded brain it is telling me that it has something to do with the fuel system or ignition. It is a bit reluctant to accelerate under light throttle and jerks around when under constant light throttle in 3rd and 4th gear. Mum's husband (not my dad) will hopefully bring a scan tool home so we can check the codes. Car is 99 hyundai excel twin cam manual.
Something very similar happened when driving my parents' GMC Safari. When accelerating harder (due to hills, or for any reason) the engine tended to misfire, and the check engine light would turn on for a while. Scanning the code would confirm the misfire (and which cylinder(s) misfired). You would probably notice the engine misfiring though, so chances are that it's a different issue.
It could be something along the lines of a misfire or an injector playing up a bit. I drive with my windows down and because the roads I have to drive on to get anywhere are windy and require lots of braking and accelerating, every time I left off the throttle for the corner it would make those unique putting sounds which could be the sound of it missing a spark or something. It's only a small engine (4 cylinder 1.5L) with the factory exhaust so it's not really noticable to the ear but I definitely notice it. It also likes to sputter when idling during a cold start which is unusual for me (not the car). Due to me being on my L's and having to have a parent in the car, i drive very conservatively (that will hopefully be dropped soon). Have a Driving test 27 Dec and if i pass i should be able to get my P's on Dec 4th. I would love to do some research and ask other people stuff but my shitty internet provider has limited internet speed to around 10kps (at peak when it decides to work) meaning a very basic google search takes anywhere from 5-15 minutes to load if it doesn't decide to time out. I did get to check out a couple excel forums (they are ultra popular down under) and some said it could be an O2 sensor others say it could be a blocked cat, i hope it's not something like a malfuntioning injector or faulty ECU though. I am not sure. Like i said in my last post, hopefully my step dad will be able to bring the scan tool home to check whats going on with it.
Thanks mate. In other news, we checked the car using the scan tool and apparently the culprit is the throttle position sensor which explains the symptoms of how it was driving. It must have just been sending the ECU a false reading of how much throttle is applied and then telling the computer to send a heap of fuel causing it to be too rich as there is very little throttle meaning no air is getting in to lean out the rich mixture. When I was pulling out of the servo across 2 (empty) lanes of traffic it decided to play up and it must of almost made the rear wheels jump off the ground (not even joking) because it would want to stall then somehow rev up and did this about four times in about 15-20 metres. A new part is $55 but due to my dad picking up a spare engine for the excel race car i might be able to grab the one off of that and see if it fixes it. P.s. A pigeon flew into my windscreen doing about 60kmh and mum chucked an f bomb
@Yottabyte1024 It's always a risk buying someone else's project unless you already know what your dealing with. the biggest turn off is the add doesn't tell you what engine. h22a? f23? his parts list is nice however. only other things that worry me is brand turbo manifold he used (no name ones like to crack), and the s200 is functional but super outdated. the fact that it was dyno tuned is a good sign. if this isn't your first project car or you have experience working on them, I'd go ahead and offer him 4800 to 5k for it. if not, @gabester will go nuts for it. let me know if you need help I got you.
LeGran got me looking at 80's Buicks/Olds again. https://boston.craigslist.org/sob/cto/5863948621.html $300 and it runs? AND a 2 door ANNDD factory handling package?
