I fit one a few weeks ago, totally worth it, I got a few interesting clips already, but lost 90% of the footage because my hard drive broke Installation: http://www.beamng.com/threads/11181-What-did-you-do-to-your-vehicle-today?p=196088#post196088 First new noteworthy footage after hdd fail: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVs505bonC4
There's currently a 12V socket in the ashtray, but I'd prefer routing the wire behind the A pillar cover and into the glovebox for a cleaner look. The adapter costs around $10, so I'd much rather do that than solder the dash cam directly into the 12V line.
This is what I mean. Solder this socket into the cars electrical system, the dashcam can then plug into it. I have one waiting for installation into my car. http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0083HKW3W/ref=sr_ph?ie=UTF8&qid=1430845047&sr=1&keywords=12v+socket Not too hard to install. Red to a switched 12v source (theres one on the back of the headunit or in my case I am planning on simply tapping into the source for the existing cigarette lighter), white to any ground, again I'm tapping onto back of existing socket. Cable on that particular one is fairly long, can easily have the socket itself concealed in or above the glovebox with the leads connected to the back of the existing socket. You cant solder the dashcam itself straight to 12v anyway, most of them are 5v, the power supply for it includes a DC/DC converter, I did consider that approach but decided it would be better to just add a 12v socket and use the cameras existing power supply.
The rims are worth more than the car. Sell them and put some money into the long list of mechanical problems. The clearcoat is pealing, for fucks sakes. Make the goddamn car itself look good before throwing some "rally" wheels on it. Have you even taken it to the limits of adhesion yet? Oh no, I mean has *your dad* taken it to the limits of adhesion yet? Who says the current suspension can even handle the Gs those tires currently on there can pull? You're ignoring the basics of owning a car. Stop thinking about wheels and stereo systems and try actually crawling under the car to do some actual work. Oh wait, nevermind, you might get dirty. Wouldn't want that to happen. - - - Updated - - - He's banned. He wasn't exactly welcome there anyway.
I am putting the shifter bushings in, as well as other mechanical things, not just wheels and a stereo. Ignorance isn't bliss. - - - Updated - - - Quit trying to get involved in my life.
I think I may put my new door speakers in the Sonoma tomorrow. Some Kenwood something or another's, should be an improvement from the stock setup. Need to to find me some (I think) 4"x6" for the dash. They could be bigger, I can't remember the actual size. The question also still remains, stock RDS equipped CD player, or fancy aftermarket double-din with navigation and Bluetooth for about $600. Or skip the nav and just get Bluetooth and iPod for a crap-ton less, or keep burning CDs which sound infinitely nicer than compressed media. Decisions, decisions.
Am I the only one that doesn't see the problem here? It's a red escort isn't it? Wheels should look rather cool even if the clearcoat is peeling. There isn't a whole lot you can do about the paint on that car short of a full respray which costs allot more than the wheels. He can ultimately sell the wheels on seperately from the car when he gets rid of it or put them on his next car (assuming it has the same PCD and suitable offset range anyway). Oh. The way I saw it. His dad may have been one to buy the car, but he did but it for kitteh did he not? Therefore it's kitteh's car. Not really any different from my old corsa. Stepdad owned it not me hence why I bought such a cheap car to replace it, I get nothing back from the sale of the corsa.
I wouldn't really have a problem with it if he would tackle the more pressing mechanical problems first. Sure, yeah, whatever, stick some decent looking wheels on there, but only after you make it mechanically sound. I would call it a ricer move, but the car isn't worthy of that title.
Mhm, an aux jack would be sweet, iPod even more so. I have a Nano I could shove my music on and keep it plugged in in the glove box. Just have to figure the door panel situation out, this thing is a bit more involved than the Corolla was.
Something my dad has been doing for the last month or so, it was built for a friend of a friend and he posted it up on YT so the owner could see it because he was on holiday. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABMo2EamsCg I think you can guess what the engine is by the title, it's running straight pipes on a test bed, what a pure British V8 sounds like...
welp. i saw a donk. its rims were freaking plates. thats it. dont mind my voice. [webm=]http://puu.sh/hE7zx.mp4[/webm]
