I did that myself, yes I prefer modeling things myself, mainly because it gives me the skill set to tackle cars that don't have existing models already. It came out better than my last 2 modeling projects I took on, that's for sure Here's a shot of the front clip in edit mode; The shading kinda looks weird at this angle, but its just fine when viewed in game, with no weird puffy spots yet. I managed to maintain that poly flow pretty much all the way around from front to back, and used the Knife tool to cut in things like the vents on the front clip, and for the taillights. There are some iffy areas for the poly flow, but I am working on ironing them out as I find them. The rims are the Alder Rallye rims, the closest match I could find to the real Corvette rallye rims, and used those to scale the prints. I also used them to help position the suspension pieces. Weight reduction bro I think that will be possible to do actually, though with the way I end up texturing my cars, the firewall tends to look a bit barren. I am not ready for configs yet though, so that will have to wait until its time. Hopefully I can get skin UV's that don't suck on this. The last car I unwrapped for skins, well, the UV map was not very usable. I will need someone who can unwrap stuff better than I can to do the second UV layer for the skins. I can take care of everything else I think in terms of UV unwrapping.
I think that config would go well alongside the Barstow Awful and Moonhawk Terrible. And I hope you'll figure out the UVs, because I already have one skin in mind that I'd make. BTW, what are the chances that it will have some of the parts on this car?
If there would be a config like that, the [Insert Name] Abysmal would be something to change from the more mainstream names.
name suggestion: Gavril spitfire (it wud give some european withs was what chevy was going for with the c3 corvette) ps: can you please make rear race coilovers as an option pps: thanks for making my favorite car
I got the radiator support frame in game. It looks weird atm, but it will look better once I have some more flexbodies in place that build up what will become the engine bay. I also installed a test radiator so I can drive the car around without it overheating for testing. Next I will go back to the interior, finish that up, then move my way back towards the taillights again.
Interesting idea, though there are other real vehicles that use the name "spitfire", so it's not really a risk worth taking to name it that. Added to main poll, we will see how it plays out. We will see if I am kind and put that somewhere in the mod as a joke or not
Gavril Windjammer, If I were you I'd name it after a class of sailing ship, as that is what a corvette is. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sailing_ship
Looks very dope.. As a white privileged male I have to say damn it's nice... That's what all the kids say these days? <3
