Could be worse. Certain brands/models keep the fuses on the original LHD spot, so the glovebox is reduced to this laughable thing:

i mean, lets be real: if you're gonna find a way to save money on stuff, as a company, you're probably gonna do it. which is also the reason many carmakers are putting screens instead of buttons: they're cheaper. unfortunately. but while one could be distracting while driving, a hood release lever is in most cases used when you're stationary anyway, so there isn't really a point in putting it in a different spot other than small convenience... only to try and repair the engine anyway
