This is nice! I hope you can finish the mod eventually. I guess the people waiting for this mod could play with @KennyWah derby truck. (It's a bit outdated but not too bad). It has a racing configuration.

On the topic of NASCAR engines, this may be worth a read:

Top tier stock cars of that era would put out about 700bhp, give or take a bit (iirc in the late 80s they were very powerful leading to dangerous speeds, so they ended up having restrictor plates put in on high speed circuits like Talladega and Daytona)
The engines also have higher RPM capabilities, revving out to around 8000rpm (versus 5.5-6k for a regular OHV V8)
