Well I make maps for Farm sim, so I know what it's like to go at the same project for ages, but fair play to you because you've stuck at it, and shown some really promising stuff, not only that but you've made it in such a way that all the parts would actually make sense in Beam, I have no doubt that we'll see this in game in the future :)

can someone with blender experience explain how to fix/clean up those dark areas? isnt that faces that are the wrong way or something? I feel tha tonce those gray-er areas are cleaned up, this model will look even better.

I must say that I was very skeptical when you first created this thread, but I am happy to be proven wrong in these types of situations, you are really doing a great job. One little thing, the coil springs are really thin, they need to be a bit thicker IMO. Also, the strut towers under the hood are a bit odd, maybe make them more broad, thicker, wider, more formed to the chassis instead of the cylinder-shape thats there now. Looking really good tho buddy :)

Thanks for your kind words. Also I agree on the coil springs and strut towers. Comments and/or tips are always welcome!

About the dark areas - I've tried to clean them up, but haven't succeeded, so I'm quite interested on how to solve this as well!

Edge split modifier, play with angle setting, you might go even to 65 degrees.

Also set flat shading and then back to smooth, sometimes it has a quirk.

Not connected vertices also can cause such.

Nice! Thanks for the tip! Experimented a bit with different angles and the entire car seems to smoothen out, I'm happy :)

Was thinking last night how empty the engine bay looked even with an engine, and in no more than 10 hours you've completely filled it, excellent work mate :)

This is becoming too addictive! Started this morning on the rear subframe. Also did a lot of small tweaks on the body (especially at the rear) to make it smoother and better looking. Suspension is nearly finished I think. Engine bay needs some more detailing as the air filter box etc. are floating in the air now :p

Turned on a texture setting in blender, which makes the car so much more realistic and better to work on!

Thanks, but I have a 2007 mk2 phase 1 model myself, so I can use that for the dashboard etc ;)
Any tips and tricks on how to do gauges are appreciated though! :)

Sorry but I'm first going to finish this car (will take a fair bit of time as I've done 0% of JBEAM and 0% texturing and modelling still isn't finished). And I already got another car in mind which I'd like to do when this Focus is done.

Some interior work done. Next time going to do the dashboard.
Got a question for you guys: I've made the radio as a 3d mesh, but would it maybe be better to do it as a flat mesh and texture it? Now it's a complex part with lots of vertices and it doesn't do anything really...
