Hey man that's on you. I tried to be nice cuz that's what the furries want me to do so I asked. And, what difference does it make to you? Anyone can download the skin, so anyone can make adjustments to it if they want. Why do you feel the need to shoot yourself in the foot just because someone took your skin, added an extra beaker or two, and then added it to their own private game? All the mods here are open source. I only break the rules when I'm taking your mods/skins and then presenting them as my own. Which I'm quite obviously not I have no reason to do that I don't even like NASCAR. I already got the skin pack, I've already made my edits, it's over. Removing it will just mean other people can't download it. And if that's what you want, that's fine. I'm entirely indifferent to it. But don't throw a fit when people try to be nice. Because I literally just wanted to ask for politeness and I complimented you. If you can't handle that, I don't know what to tell you. As someone who has made and released (and removed) skins on this site before, I agree with your statement and I'm just as perplexed to the reaction as you are. You can choose to be "comfortable" with people editing your things or not, you can also ask them politely to not edit your things, but you can't actually physically stop them without resorting to the extremes of collective punishment - a bad mindset and something that rarely benefits either side of the argument. Especially since you never planned to release the edited skin, pass it off as your own, or use it to slander the original creator in some way, I see nothing wrong with what you did and it was a little overblown for LDogg to suggest that your actions had in-turn "revoked the entire forum's rights to that singular skin" for no more than what appears to be an irrational fear of loss of ownership. It seems rather petty. Now, it perhaps wasn't wise to announce for a second time that you would modify the skin despite the fact that he had just stated his feelings about that plan. Probably would have been better if you'd just have kept it to yourself and made the edits without a word to anyone within 5 football-field-lengths of the BeamNG NASCAR community.
You're right. I was just mad with the complete disrespect for my wishes for my mod. Punishing everyone isn't the answer, but neither is completely ignoring what I say. I would have been fine if they had just not even asked, or made a big deal out of it.
I think it's all a little silly to be honest. Ovahlls did come across as needlessly aggressive once you'd said you "didn't feel comfortable" with him making any changes but I think that was in response to your unexpected defensiveness over something so trivial. For him to spout a wall of text was to be somewhat expected from him but not at all necessary (he could've just sent you a PM instead) and for him to make out as if he didn't act the least bit wrong towards you is simply incorrect. Though I still agree with what he said. Despite this, I do watch this thread and like seeing the liveries you make. Don't let such minor things get to you, prioritise your enjoyment making the skins over anything else.
Yeah probably won't ask again. I only did it because a lot of people I talk to say it's always wise to ask about things like that, especially in reference to art (a lot of my friends are furries). But I really only did it for a 5 second bit as part of a stupid joke. Like I'm not tryna take it and go postin it everywhere it's literally just a blurry PNG of Beaker pasted over the numbers and sponsors it's the dumbest thing I've ever spent time on lmao.
