Known issue, unknown ETA for bugfix, there´s no workaround for it in the meantime.

Yeah it's likely, I have 8GB of VRAM. I will wait for further updates to optimize the VRAM usage (if even it's possible)

Heads up, I've updated the VR documentation further, including a possible tip to save around 2gb of VRAM when choosing your OpenXR runtime: https://documentation.beamng.com/support/vr/#openxr-runtime-guide

    Thanks I'll check!

EDIT: I just checked and I tried using both Oculus software and Virtual Dekstop but I have much better performances with Virtual Desktop. Oculus software causes many stutters and it's not smooth at all. In general I had much better performances with Virtual Desktop on most games

    I have a Quest 2

Here's basically what their documentation said:

"The parallel projection option in the Pimax Pitool settings is a compatibility mode for games or applications that do not support the wide field of view (FOV) of the Pimax headsets. It adjusts the image rendering to avoid visual artifacts or distortions that may occur when the cameras are not aligned with the display. However, enabling this option may reduce the performance and resolution of the headset, as it requires more GPU power and increases the rendering load. Therefore, it is recommended to enable or disable this option on a per-game basis, depending on whether the game supports Pimax FOV natively or not. You can find this option in the PiTool software settings under the Games tab"

Like I said before, Everything except UI (in my testing at least) renders correctly with it turned off, having it turned on fixed UI misalignment but costs quite a chunk of performance.

Okay I see, so the issue only affects UI. Now that makes sense (UI is on our list of things to be improved, current render method is a bit wonky even in the rest of headsets too). Thanks for the clarification!

I recently got a Valve Index and was really excited to try BeamNG with it, but unfortunately it runs at very low fps and the game always crashes after about a quarter mile of driving. I have it set up exactly how it advised me to, I think my graphics settings were rather high because I'm running an RTX 3090, so if lowering the graphics settings fixes the low fps issue then I'll gladly do that but I don't know what to do from here in terms of fixing the game crashing after only a few minutes.

I've got an issue hope you can help. Using a Radeon rx580 in windows 10, BeamNG runs fantastic. When I try to launch in Vulkan mode, (Oculus Rift S) i get the error "failed to find a suitable Vulkan device" LOVE the simulation!

Since this is a Vulkan issue and not a VR issue, please post your problem in the Vulkan thread, here: https://www.beamng.com/threads/vulkan-api-–-feedback-known-issues-and-faq.79967/
    Thanks!

Hello guys, I don’t know if somebody already has posted about this, but I get this weird flickering when moving my head in VR. I think it’s the same as what MuYe had in his recent video, where he „fixed the issue after half an hour“, if you don’t know what I mean, watch the first few minutes of his Video.
I noticed it was only when moving my head and only on the goggles, on my monitor it looked fine.
Thank you for answers in advance!
Edit: I found out that my 3070 is on its limit with its 8GB of VRAM, could this be the problem? I even have everything on lowest and still…

Hey, I've been enjoying the VR update quite a lot and I'm grateful for this new feature.
I did find one issue with the bus route game mode however.

If you are at a bus stop and are waiting for the passengers to enter, it goes into third person just like it does on desktop mode.
This works fine, but it also adds the camera wobble effect, which can be quite nauseating.
The preferred solution would probably be to just not switch camera's while in VR, or at least to disable the camera wobble effect.
    --- Post updated ---
Also, switching to VR on the Linux (native version) just crashes the game.
But that is probably because we are stacking multiple experimental things at the same time :p

On my dual booted Windows install for VR it does work fine, so it's not a major issue for me.

Upgraded my PC just to play this and I've been enjoying it a lot!

The only problem I have encountered is after a fresh Windows install, I was hoping to circumvent SteamVR entirely by just using WMR (I have an HP Reverb G2) and OpenXR-Vk-D3D12. However, although the app launched in my headset and BeamNG entered VR mode, nothing was displayed to the headset.

The solution was to install SteamVR.

I assume you mean imgui-based menus. Imgui is not intended for regular gameplay, only for modding/development purposes. We have no plans to make those usable in VR.

the TV cam is fundamentally incompatible with comfort in VR. I'll reduce a bit the cameraman-abilities of this camera, so that it resembles a *bit* more a static camera, but that won't solve things completely.

VR + linux + vulkan is indeed the triple crown of untested features, the strange thing would be for it to work at all!

First time I see a user complain about OpenXR-Vk-D3D12 not working after its author fixed it for BeamNG. You may want to contact them so they can look into your issue.
