I get this error when I turn on my Dell desktop. This has never happened to me before, and I have tried several things, and none of them worked. Some of these include: Swapping the drive in different computers to see if it boots. Same problem Disconnecting then reconnecting the cables while the system is off. Booting through USB adapter cables Running the startup repair option in the Windows installation disc. Chkdsk I know the drive hasn't failed yet because I can still access my files through the USB adapter on another computer. I think it's a problem with the Windows installation. The last time it successfully booted I had to install some updates. Could these be the source of the problem? Oh yeah, I should mention, I tried Googling my problem, to no avail. Maybe run Malwarebytes scan on that drive? Could be because of updates, does it start even in fail safe mode? Uninstalling updates might be bit involving if you can't get OS to run at all. Then again most results seem to involve some kind of Phishing software disguised as repair tool, which kinda hints root of problem might be of sinister origin, hard to tell. Might be easiest to backup files and do fresh install with installation disk.
I did a malwarebytes scan yesterday before I installed any updates. Unfortunately I can't even get into safe mode, it just brings up that error. I am going to try a malwarebytes scan again through a USB cable on another computer. If that doesn't fix it, then I will just do a reinstall.
Uhm... this? I'm not sure if it may be helpful or not. Could the first link help as well? https://www.google.com/search?q=err...&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&safe=active&ssui=on
So the solution to this is actually to repair the MBR of the windows installation. I had this appear on a Dell latitude d430 and the solution was to run the following commands: bootrec /FixMbr bootrec /FixBoot bootrec /ScanOs bootrec /RebuildBcd I did the same thing with my desktop ssd and it works fine now
