This is huge! I hope this gets expanded upon with pick & pulls where you can grab body panels in all sorts of different colors from junked cars.

Also I want to mention the exciting update on our vehicle insurance system! Now you have the freedom to personalize your coverage, just like real life. No worries though if insurance details aren't your thing; you can hit the road hassle-free without diving into the complexities.

For speed lovers and exotic car fans, there's "Prestige" coverage. Heavy-duty vehicles like buses and transport trucks roll with the robust "Commercial" coverage.

As always, your feedback on these systems is crucial to us!

Picture this: Easygoing truckers choosing max coverage for smooth rides, while daredevils tweak their plans for cost savings after a few too many. . . spins. Our "insurance score" tracks your driving habits, just like real life—crash a lot, and your rates climb.

Glad to hear that you're equally excited! Right now when you purchase new body parts, they also come primered and not paint-matched. In the future I would like to have more options and varied results... there is the current primer colour, but sometimes body panels come in eggshell black, or red primer, etc.. then there is urethane/plastic parts vs metal parts etc.

We experimented with primer aging as well, so if you repair your vehicle now and get fresh primer, but keep driving, the primer will age and newly repaired parts will look mismatched! The goal I personally have here, is to see some popular youtubers doing their incredible driving, and then in one or two shots, show the bumper primered, and then back to painted again, as a real, "AHA! Gotcha!!" fun moment haha. Right now vehicle paint ages based on mileage, so if you buy a high mileage vehicle the paint will look dull compared to a brand new one, and so on. Fun things like this should be available to players in my opinion, and it's a very real part of vehicle ownership in the real world! Matching those pesky fenders to the doors after a respray, for any of you who have been there, you know what I'm talking about!

Wow, I had no idea stuff like that was even technically possible in the game. It’s really fun to have your car sort of tell a story like that, with all the mileage you’ve racked up and all the repairs you’ve done. If you buy a crappy old car or replace a bunch of panels, its so much more fun to see the cars condition and see those repairs visually instead of having a “condition” meter go from red to green or whatever. That’s the sort of thing I always loved about games like Street Legal Racing Redline.

If I can suggest one thing it would be yellowed headlights on high mileage cars. For some reason this is almost never depicted in video games, which is a shame because it really sells the “beat up old car” look. Anything from that little bit of cloudiness on 5 or 10 year old cars to the completely beige ones you see sometimes on old Hondas.

+ It’s really cool how you’re in here explaining your thought process and what’s been going on. I can’t wait to play more career mode :D

Thanks for the kind words, and I enjoy being here to answer as much as I can without over-promising and trying not to create false expectations! The headlights idea is great, immediately I wonder about the necessary info for "is it glass or is it plastic" but this is a huge problem for so many cars, I'll put that down on my list for sure, thanks!

One of our biggest stumbling blocks is the ability to save and retrieve a damaged vehicle - it's why we currently force players to repair their vehicle before pulling it out of storage. The technical reasons are a mile long, but in short: Imagine trying to put a new door, on a completely bent up and broken chassis - it wouldn't work, let alone a new suspension arm, or bumper, etc.. so there is a nagging "if only we could" among the Career Mode team and for now our "beat up old cars" are just going to have poorly performing engines and transmissions and faded paint jobs!

I have an idea for the vehicle selection screen. An option to delete user configs from the menu without spawning the car. This is for configs of mods you deleted and/or updated vehicles that you had configs for.

    hehehe

Also, I'm very glad that we can now start missions with our own vehicles (very nice to see a highly-requested feature get implemented), but why can't we earn the three main stars for missions with our own vehicles? That seems very peculiar to me. I get not getting stars for turning off traffic or changing the number of laps or whatever other difficulty settings, but not being able to level up in any career path or earn money from missions with our own vehicles almost completely invalidates the entire point of giving people that option in the first place.

IMO, players should just be able to go through most missions the first time around with their own vehicle and be able to get all the stars if they do well - else, why take the risk of damaging your own vehicle when you could just use the provided one? (I get that sometimes, locking a player into a provided vehicle to complete a mission makes sense for something like a time trial.)

EDIT: Nevermind: turns out you can use your own vehicle to progress in the career mode. It just doesn't show up that way when selecting a mission (the three stars are crossed out when changing mission conditions).

I spent about an hour playing the career for the first time since I got my new PC. It looks very promising. I love that the damage persists. I would love to see some career options for demolition derby. Perhaps cars that are not road legal/worthy that would come at a fraction of the cost. It looks like there is a way to stock pile parts so you could go mild to wild with what you want to put into one.

Looking forward to being able to purchase old muscle cars. Didn't see any in the dealerships that I visited.

How about adding the taxi mode? You rent a taxi in the taxi company and begin to deliver passengers to earn money.
Or police mode, you have to register in the police station and cruising to catch suspectors. The higher level you are,the better police car you can drive.

Good job on creating even better and better career mode by incorporating various ideas and following player feedback!

I really liked the implementation of insurance, primer and "delivery boy" type of content this time around. Perhaps that could be a future content for taxi, firefighter and paramedic missions?

Talking about future, I have some suggestions for career mode:

    1. Driving license & Driving school - perhaps our first experience in the tutorial could be a driving test (something different than "button-smashing" and driving to fuel station & dealership), where we receive a driver's license based on the vehicle category (motorcycle, passenger vehicle, truck license (maybe separated into light and heavy truck license) and bus. These would provide some motivation for people to progress and earn better awards, and to drive certain vehicles legally on the public road, and perhaps receive new or expanding mission opportunities, such as bus driving or delivery missions with semi-trucks. These licenses and tests perhaps could teach people, especially, new players, new mechanics like hooking-up the trailer or reversing the trailer itself.
1.1. Another point of licenses, could be an inclusion of taxi and racing licenses:
Taxi license - simply bought, perhaps a little theory/practical test, which would allow a player to become a taxi driver.
Racing license - registering for the racing school and doing something akin to ETK driving school scenarios that exist currently, to receive a racing driver's license to participate in the sanctioned racing - whether it is rally, drag or others. Obviously, illegal street racing would not require a racing license.
1.2. Police - it might be helpful for some people to have optional driving course, specific for the police work, such as PIT maneuver, that could teach some players some skills.

    2. Inclusion of taxi, firefighter and paramedic missions, akin to the "delivery man" missions:
2.1. Taxi missions - putting aside obvious (client = money and more clients = more money), perhaps there could be various sub-missions:
    a. "scared" passengers - all of the passengers once in the taxi would have neutral emotion, but if a player drives in a very spirited way, disobeys traffic laws or/and crashes, the passengers would become more scared, and ultimately, ask the driver to stop, therefore, the player loses some or all of the money on the fare.
    b. Of course, not all passengers can be scared, and some could ask the player to "get a move on" and would pay more money for getting to the destination faster, such as with a time limit, therefore, they would not mind spirited driving or being above the speed limit, although, crashing or missing the time, would negate the bonus, therefore, just receiving normal or even no fare.
2.2 - Firefighter and paramedic missions - quite obvious too - deliver patient to the hospital/take out the fire, but as at the above, perhaps there could be more sub-missions:
    a. same with taxi's "scared passengers", the patient would have to be delivered quickly, but yet carefully, as the patients would have a set timer, and reaching the end of the time, would fail a mission.
    b. It also can be more than "patient A to B", but also transferring donors from a certain place to the hospital.
    c. No idea how to improve firefighting missions :p

    3. Private sellers - it could be interesting to get something better or perhaps worse, than what we can get from the dealership. Maybe it is a complete lemon with a toasted engine, which the seller is hiding, perhaps the seller is honest and selling you a car with known faults - the options and randomness could be endless, as a player could be worse off than before or perhaps even earn a little bit of money for a trivial issue. In addition to that, perhaps we could buy cars that are just shells - just wheels (maybe even not) and the body frame.

Perhaps light-runner missions could be implemented as an "Adventurer" branch still, but the crazy "Tron meets Hot Wheels" action could be shown instead as if it was a TV or movie production, but the whole stunt driving is done through the lens of the movie itself. Otherwise, I think your previous idea to have "light-runners" as a some arcade video game machine, something akin to Sega Rally and the such, could still work. Maybe by making it feel like it is played via an actual arcade than just feeling it is a normal game-play, just with neon lighting and out-of-this-world racetrack? It could potentially work with a different screen filters, so that it looks like a game, with various racing game UI elements we all associate arcade video games, such as 3rd person view, lap count, the timer, speedometer and so on. (see GTA 5's rendition of arcade games).

Although, it might be just a nice-to-have if the player couldn't benefit in any way, such as prizes, money or experience points.

Once again, I am very thankful for the progress you all are doing for 10 years already, and I am excited to see more :)

I have an idea, Barn finds, abandoned vehicles scattered about in remote places on the map. They could be as little of a car as just the frame, or just need gas, and everything in between (IE missing engines, doors, bumpers, seats, transmissions, etc.). They could be located in house backyards, construction sites, side of forest roads, or in the forest for example. Generally just somewhere either hidden or off the beaten path.

    Kinda like these:

Yes, I ripped these pics from the internet, these pics aren't mine.

Just tried the career mode again in 0.31, and I need to ask: is the intended behaviour for Evade missions (like Hide at Home) supposed to be that you cannot evade the police by hiding? Early in the mission I broke line of sight with all police cars and went to hide on the race track, but the "evade meter" never filled up. Instead, the police cars showed up nearby (by the sound of their sirens) even though there was no way to see me from the road and they couldn't pathfind to me. After 10 minutes being parked and the police not finding me, I gave up when the mission didn't progress.

Apologies if this is not the right thread to post this in, but I couldn't find a dedicated thread to report mission feedback in.

Hi, what if before installing the new part on the dented car body hull, just check the attachment points, if they are "normal" or not. That is, like in real life, where even on a completely smashed car, you can install, for example, a bumper, if the attachment points still remain and the distance between them is the same. Yes, they will be look silly, with wrong angle and position, but they can be installed!!!
    Normal - mean:
    • Check the presence of attachment points on hull (others body parts)
    • Check the distance and angle between these points. (for example, if the same as in new vehicle, all ok and we can add new part)
    • Check available space on dent body, for example bumper can be installed outside, but door or other inside parts can't (or maybe can, but can't be closed, because of broken vehicle body and tiny space between).
So if one of these parameters not work, just give player a massage "this part can be installed because.....". Many users want to save all small dents and detached (after accident) parts and fix only destroyed important parts. For deeper gameplay, It's good to save a visual history of all taken damage from car life.

Also, there is a mod Beam Regenerator, maybe we can integrate it in career, so player can fix car not complete, only broken part(faster and cheaper, with visual feedback)

I don't know if anyone has said it before, but I've noticed an interesting thing today while delivering goods. If you discover a new facility, or have discovered it before, but have not completed any delivery to it yet, it usually has 0 or 1-2 items available for delivery, but after completing a couple of deliveries to this facility it starts giving more items. It may be just a coincidence and I had to wait to receive more items, but I think laborer branch is moving towards something similar to CaRP system (for those who don't know, it's a BeamMP roleplay server, where there is not only delivery, but an entire production chain, so one facility buys from you raw materials you've bought previously from a mine, then manufactures semi-finished products you sell to other factories or finished products you can buy and sell to shops). For example, if the steel factory in WCUSA receives no raw materials, it cannot produce its goods, which can further affect other industries (maybe even production of car parts?). Pretty viable speculation given the cargo box easter egg hinting on multiplayer

Great input, I love the license idea, especially the need for different licenses for different kind of vehicles!

    I have been loving the deliveries in career mode, but have had a few small problems with them;

Firstly I do believe the newly remade T-Series is not supposed to be used for them, but the main issue I ran into trying to use it was fragile cargo being hyper fragile on the back of the T-Series flatbed:

In my Lansdale and D-Series I could do handbrake turns and small jumps without losing cargo health, but with T-Series any slow speed manoeuvre seems to destroy the cargo.

Secondly there are parked cars occupying the delivery zones(pictured below and happened in the video). I do feel like it's an issue only due to not (yet?) making special delivery zones and using parking spots for them.

Also someone really should name insurance payments, otherwise it could get confusing where the money is going:D.

The new delivery missions show the potential of the career mode very well; having to use your own vehicle made me check more used car listings than I used to when playing Gran Turismo 4:D

And if the sold cars could be a bit more devious and have hidden faults(like cheaper cars tend to IRL) then choosing a lesser but newer vehicle would become an actual option. Not to mention making test drives actually important. Since right now the worst that seems to happen with high mileage vehicles is a rough idle?

I looooove the new update and even more where the career mode is going ! Absolutely love the delivery missions and the fact that there is endless of them ! Started with a cargo Lansdale for some basic deliveries but just upgraded to a nice lwb H Serie ! Very fun to drive around managing all the stuff and making money , a few grands every 15 minutes when you know what you're doing !

We can now change the color of our cars .
Older cars with a lot of kms will have a faded paint job when bought from the dealer
We can now sell unused parts from the garage inventory
The insurance system is as complex as the real deal

For all that and even more to discover , THANK YOU DEVS !!! Keep up the great work , it's really appreciated

Even though it shows the stars as being crossed out, i find that it progresses the campaign even using my own vehicle. which is awesome because now i have a reason to have the baddest 200bx on the streets :).

I am also experiencing this issue, even with the d-series. The moment the fragile cargo is loaded it starts getting destroyed. Secondly, the logistics centers and warehouses should provide ALOT more cargo. I should be leaving those places with more than enough to fill my d-series and its trailer. Regardless, its a great concept and i cant wait for it to be fleshed out. Lastly, I believe there may be a typo in the 309 V8 for the moonhawk. It currently costs 100k
