Consent can be given. Consent can be retracted. I think lack of credit is a damn good reason to withdraw consent.

 

I am salty, I do admit.
I know its wrong, I know. Its just tough having to go through and knowingly make something worse by deleting things.
Its like getting a C&D and having to stop doing something you love dearly.

It's not like it's just removing an engine, or a spoiler, its an entire vehicle subclass. One that, as can be read, is nearly universally loved.
And one that can never be reproduced by anyone currently in our dev team. So having to end this is basically ending this. Probably for good.
Which will cause yet more people to abandon this pack. Also probably for good.

It's hard to knowingly disappoint people, but I guess it needs to be done.

So I apologize that I'm not exactly skipping through a field of daises about all of this.

 

If you want to be mad at anyone. Be mad at yourself for not obeying both the rules of the repo and the law of the land. Credit isn't just a rule on the repo but is technically covered under DMCA and the computer misuse acts.

If anything you should be thankful he didn't do what he can do, file for the entire mod to be taken down.

Honestly. that's probably gonna happen regardless.
This mod is filled with a mix of broken configs, redundant configs, broken parts, and now a bunch of stuff marked for deletion.
It doesn't look like its worth fixing, given the amount of problems.


DJ tried to save space by listing people in the credits rather than writing and entire editorial about their contributions. Otherwise the front page would be many pages long. And Narwhal was listed there. But it makes sense that someone who did a lot would want a lot more credits. That's understandable.

If DJ had some more time (hes a busy man and only he can edit that specific section) before Narwhal's decision, he would have fixed it, and he did, but Narwhal just wanted them removed in the end. (which is fine, its his decision). But stop acting like we refused to fix it.


Bearing that in mind; it was my fault that the wheel creator didn't get credits; while fixing the mod for 0.8 I just forgot to mention him to DJ. That was absolutely my fault. And, if we ever do work with other people again, it will be something I give more priority to.

 

can you at least keep the wagon body and create new configs for it? i love the wagon body and i don't want to see it go...

 

Nope, that's Narwhal's.

We will try (thats a confirmed promise from me and dj) to make our own. It may never actually come out. But we will try.

But based on Narwhal's words, he may be rereleasing it himself, so just follow him for more info on that.

 

The credits don't have to be long, as long as they include who did what. That's where you failed, nobody knew who made what parts, and it could be assumed that DJ did almost everything with minor help from others.

Yeah, they changed the models and such so it doesnt spawn anymore.

*Sigh*.... Quite sadly, the second great pack is about to die... I'll keep the parts regardless. I acquiesce, though, with Narwhal's decision. He did not get the credit he deserved.

 

Die? Since when? One bodystyle getting removed from the pack(or rather the body style is becoming an seperate mod) doesn't mean that it's dying.

 

I feel that this change is highly detrimental to what the pack is, overall.

 

Alright, SO

I need to announce something, seeing how people are thinking the pack is gonna die from this and such.

Short: It is.

Not only is there a metric *** tonne of configs here, but most of them, if not all are broken. In addition to that, a ton of things need to be removed as per request. The entire config will be removed since there just isn't a big reason to redo them with existing parts, and leaving the rest of the pack broken.

But, it won't be quite dead, either.
The pack is going to be completely redone. New configs, better vetting, and more (if not all) using homegrown parts.
In addition, it will most likely be done with a completely new team, since it seems much of the existing dpmp team are fine with not doing anything except making more configs.
The new configs will be made to (hopefully) make sense and not be like they are now: slight variations of existing stock configs, or of themselves.

Whether the remake will use this name, or a new one, we don't know yet. We just know that, given our current team's absence from this, there just isn't a feasible way of updating this. There's too many configs to fix, and not enough people to fix them.

An update will be out shortly to remove the offending configs. Nothing more.

 

Will only the wagon and K-Series GT be removed, or will the wagon, K, and sunburst convertible all be removed?

 

The convertible will stay.

As will the GTE, itll just need new wheels.
