Modular Street Parts Pack on the way! I had this idea while i searched a workaround for the fact that the Torque 3D mesh roads have no clipping yet and as there are many map creators who can't model or dont wan't to spend time on it, i thought this would be a good thing to throw into the community ...fully open source to be distributed and/or customized with any of your maps! Started modeling today, here is a little sneak peek on the progress, i orientate me on what kind of static parts you would find in a city-building simulation game with respect to beamNG physics. There are over 290 different shaped concepts on the paper so far and 52 are allready modeled and textured, but it depends on my endurance and other aspects how much i can provide in the end. I hope to get a beta release together within the next days. WIP Thread: http://www.beamng.com/threads/6814-Modular-Mesh-Roads-Pack-v-0-0-1
Lookin' good! Love it (especially the suspension) Also, I am wondering if anyone has got some tutorials on Blender. It seems like I can't manage to do stuff there, as of the fact that I am a real idiot who doesn't really check before I start on working on something. (I don't want 3DMax or whatever it is named, because it's a bit expensive. Yeah, my dad wouldn't let me buy it for 30€ (I assume it is that much)). I've seen tons of guides on YouTube, but I can't really figure out what to do still. If there is any easy-to-understand guide for Blender, I would appreciate if you share it. I want to make a Volvo 480 Turbo (which doesn't look like a Volvo after all, that is why I like it (I do like Volvo cars, but it's different look makes me like this too)). If I can manage to model it, I will probably return later to ask about N&Bs.
Hehe, 3DS costs more than 30 bucks mate, you need to add another 3 at the beginning and another 0 on the end, then swap the $ to £. £3300, or about $5500. Although you can get student copies for free.
Student copies? Can you model HQ cars in them? Also, I do understand why people download programs illegal when they see that price tag. Holy sh**.
the student license is pretty much the full version of the software. You just cant make money with it (supposedly, like they are going to know) and have to be a student.
ummm, yes, a student copy is pretty much the same as the normal copy (there's probably minor differences, but idk)
If you want to learn something hard enough.. I'm gonna stop working on the camaro for a while and do some jbeam for this thing To be honest, I'm actually surprised how easy it is to place nodes and beams/connect them. (for me at least) And a HUGE thank you to Nadeox1 for his tutorial
First model made outside of sketchup for me. Its wings3d, piece of software I tried to learn once but never got beyond a cube, to be fair I am not far beyond a cube right now either Not finished. Going to rework just about all of it into something I can actually call a model instead of some boxes thrown together and a hole cut in one... Then probably JBeam it as an exercise (in futility ). I do have a plan for a vehicle in my head, but it will be a while before I am ready to attempt making it, its a fairly crazy design which doesn't help things too much. Combine monster truck, buggy and 3 wheeler Start small, work up.
This comes to mind It's nice to see that you are finally making something. Once you learn your program, modeling is (sort of) a piece of cake.
Soon - It seems to be harder to do in BeamNG. The covet rally will start loosing part after 3-4 parts, the D15 offroad gets too jumpy on a land and etc. The buggy is the only vehicle that I managed to drive on it without any problems for the moment. Spent my time and modelled a Stadium Lightpole thing. So, as I did with Mt.Shell, I'm placing a Day/Night cycle and the track lighting too.
