I didn't edit the model at all aside from renaming everything lol, it looks like this in the original too
Obviously, you will be able to chop off every part that can move independently (forgot to mention I'll try to make realistic movement restrictions so it won't flex in a way a human wouldn't), so head, thorax, pelvis, hands, feet, and lower and upper parts of arms and legs, that's the plan. But there will be an option to make them unbreakable. The strength of the connections between these parts will be adjustable too. Obviously if I end up adding Stig this won't be an option for him lol. Oh also I'm trying to get the weight distribution more accurate than other mods.
will there be a way to stand them up easily? previous dummies couldnt even stand up without you pinning them in the node editor, and then when you try and hit them they just float there.
The old stationary dummy mod had terribly assigned refnodes and no exterior camera, that was the main reason why it was a pain to position wituout using World Editor. This one already has a camera and properly working refnodes, though the bottom ones aren't connected to anything yet, it needs legs so I can connect them to one of them. If I can I will try to get it to not fall over on uneven surfaces, maybe using an improvised gyro that would be a relatively heavy node under the ground to keep it straight? Idk we'll see.
You could use a few mild thrusters in its legs and feet, just like we use our muscles to stand (this way the weight doesn't gets screwed)
That would require some LUA knowledge I don't have to detect when it's falling over, and would be a pain to adjust the force so it's big enough but not too big. Also when it falls over the thrusters would still be active and could cause weird stuff to happen. Hydros are more like muscles and probably wouldn't have side effects, but still I would need a "fall detection system" in LUA.
Remember that real dummies also won't stay up standing If you need the system anyway mind as well use it on the thrusters, by the way, thrusters are very easy to adjust, you can make them very subtle. Just use the 'gyro detection' to see if it's tipped over or not. if his bud points north then kill thrusters end
Been (finally) continuing the progress with this thing. Sorted out most of the jank with the suspension, and gave it driveshafts that fit, at least while it is not flexing like crazy. Still got a bunch of stuff to sort out, like swaybars, renaming wheels and tires in the files etc.
6000+ horsepower in a Pigeon... Technically using only in-game parts, just swapped from other vehicles lol. The engine swap update of my first mod should be out soon!
Been heavily practicing with blender and beamng. Fancied a crack at giving the ETK K series a new look, still a lot of modelling work to do but starting to like the overall design. Still not 100% sure on the light bar but giving it a try. For now using original textures, got to learn how to make my own but unwrapped and placed everything so I could get an idea on the looks.
