I definitely agree that having more chaotic, "organic" town layouts would look more authentic, but I wonder if having more complex layouts would make it harder to navigate for AI? It could be that @LJFHutch is intentionally keeping the layouts grid based so that AI get stuck less often.
but ECA is quite an intricate map if you look at it from above and the a.i. seems to handle it pretty well from my experience. Also if more complex layouts do confuse the a.i it would only help the dev team improve the a.i. to be more competent generally.
I... I don't see the point. AI isn't great and it's far to be perfect. It still need a lot of work and that means AI someday will change. So I don't see the reason to create map in that way only because we have unfinished AI. It'll be easier to improve AI rather than change parts of map. I think reason is simple. It's just easier to make box-like town using box-like houses. Also looks like @LJFHutch don't like... merge houses into one? On ECA there are a lot of this buildings like factory for example. On screenshots from Italy I didn't find even one.
well, not developer speculation but rather what i've found. used a v6 mod for the Dseries that i edited to get the V10 sound.
sure. hold on. --- Post updated --- as requested, higher RPM. copy and pasted the Bolide's RPM Jbeam coding into the mod i used previously.
Thank you. I was thinking about saying something along these lines. In retrospect, I'm not sure why I didn't. In fact, to be even more frank, I think that Firwood and even some of what we've seen of Belasco look more organic than the current towns and city of Italy. Both feature predominantly rectangular blocks, but at least have some diagonal roads that break up the grid. The Italy map's population centers, on the other hand, look far too clean and straight for communities that old, and, well, Italian. I'd advise that the rectilinear grid structure be dumped for this one.
After hearing that, I can't help but wonder if this V10 isn't planned for the Bolide at all. It sounds very modern, and comfortable at those high RPMs. It could be planned for the ETK K-series, which shares a platform with the 800-Series, which @synsol has been posting powersliding an awful lot lately...
If that's the case, then maybe the ETK K10 will be our second modern supercar, after all. I mean, we have had confirmation that the ETKs will get more powerful engines in the future, and if it's going to be a modern V10, then that would be quite cool to have. Or....or maybe we're getting something else. EDIT: Dev rated my post "Awesome"...not sure what that's supposed to mean..
Alright, I think we're getting ahead of ourselves here. We have no evidence for the development of a new vehicle - only evidence for the development of a V10 engine. We also know that there have been promises of larger engines for the K-series. In the meantime, I'd like to apologize - I forgot for a moment that this isn't the update speculation thread.
2000's ETK I maybe? --- Post updated --- But IMO the sound can be used on the D-Series/Roamer duo. Maybe it's because I found out that the sound fits more on the D/Roamer more than the ETK 800/K... Beam's version of the Ram SRT-10, anyone?
I guess yes because 2000s ETK I-Series would have a V10 engine on the high end performance variant of the car similar to the E60/E61 BMW 5 Series.
So, this is how port town looks. There is my design Legend: orange - highway brown - wide roads grey - town roads, little more narrow than brown roads red - tiny narrow roads/paths/stairs etc. yellow - buildings green - square/park Port on the left is older. Left part of town have old houses build on the hillside. Right side however have more modern buildings and industrial area near new, bigger port.
Alright, time to get back to responding to the Developer Section ... Today, @LJFHutch showed off some new cliffs that appear to border mountain switchback areas: Some areas even appear to be climbable by certain variants of the Hopper: I like this turn in particular. I wonder if there's enough space to make a handbrake turn in something larger than a Covet...
Very recently Diamondback released a video stating "something new for something old". I wonder what he means by that.
