Elderly man killed in head-on collision with truck

A tragic accident occurred this morning on a rural road outside the city of Lucera, leaving a 76-year-old man dead. According to initial police reports, the accident happened when a truck veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with the man's car, an AW Bete. The truck driver reportedly realized too late that he was in the wrong lane and was unable to avoid the collision.
The accident caused major traffic disruptions on the road for several hours, as emergency services rushed to the scene to assess the situation and clear the wreckage. The elderly man unfortunately succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead at the scene, while the truck driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident, and the driver of the truck is being questioned to determine the cause of the accident. The police have also urged all drivers to be extra cautious and alert when driving on rural roads.
