We tried to save the planet... --- Post updated --- I spawned a RX7 and got this plate... I swear I didn't change it
Straight from Guangdong Province, China is this specimen, an oddball plastic car of uncertain origin and dubious quality. It was kept in a fairly clean garage, so it hasn't rotted away too badly. When it got here, I cleaned it off and polished it up a bit. The engine is a 1.3l four-cylinder from some kind of generator, mated to a janky four-speed manual transmission. You know that a car is good when it redlines at 3900 RPM. Judging from inscriptions on the block, it appears to have been made around 1984. Underneath the hodge-podge of bespoke injection-molded body panels and parts "borrowed" from other cars (yes, those mirrors are from some kind of truck) is a hacked-up 1982 Ibishu Covet with, inexplicably, a leaf-sprung dead axle in the back. In fact, it had an Ibishu VIN plate in the door sill, so registering it was no trouble. The interior was taken from a 1985 Charmand and subsequently ruined by whoever slapped this mess together. It drives like shit. It's slow, wobbly and feels like it's about to fall apart. One of the interior door handles actually fell off when I hit a speed bump. The shifter feels like it came from a tractor. It is totally devoid of badging, save for a FAW logo on the steering wheel - but it is not a FAW at all. Some friends and I did a bit of research, and it looks like it is a prototype of some kind, made by the defunct Guangdong Jinlong Auto Works Company. There might be more prototypes - I'll have to look into that. As far as I can tell, no car like this ever made it to production.
