When WWII came to an end, Cross Heavy Machinery was left with a large quantity of their Light Utility Vehicles. With the company rapidly loosing money due to the LUVs not being purchased, they decided to modify them for civilian use, thus creating the Cross LUV C1 (C - civilian / 1 - first generation). While being very basic and simple, the LUV ended up being quite successful as many soldiers who returned home were interested in purchasing an LUV of their own for personal use. The LUV saved Cross Heavy Machinery from bankruptcy, and allowed them to continue on as the popular company they are known as today.
