Is there any reason it isn't posted on the mod repository? It certainly seems well-polished enough to me to be submitted there, where it'd get a lot more attention. There aren't a lot of releases in the aircraft sub-forum, so less people tend to check here I imagine...
It's not posted there because of Cessna copyright, the beam repository does not allow mods that use copyrighted assets. To post it there we would first have to get permission from Cessna, otherwise it would be removed.
D'oh. Spaced on the obvious.. What if one were to remove and fictionalize the logo from the skins and rename it? Would that be enough difference to qualify it as an homage, possibly?
The problem with that is it'd break the integrity of it. There was lots of work put into authenticity here, and I feel it would all be for nothing if we were to 'dumb it down' for the repo.
I wouldn't really call it 'dumbed down:' look at Codename: Oldfullsize and how they did it and you'll see there is a way of posting it on the repo without losing the integrity you strive for. The core 'OldFullsize' vehicle file on the repo contains a generic badge and name (as well as a single model and skin, IIRC), but the mod repo page links to the forums where one downloads the 'expansion pack' that fully brands it. It is a stylistic workaround to copyright law that allows the company to host near 1:1 replicas, so long as they are artfully rebranded. It was just an idea to maximize exposure of your mod, because I think it deserves the attention. Codename: Oldfullsize manages to keep all the potentially TM and C infringing content, because it is hosted separately as a "recommended" (but really quite necessary) expansion pack.
Considering the average intelligence level within the BeamNG community (sorry to be blunt), if that were to happen, I would expect more people than not to just click an install button and click away, without noticing that they are only getting a fraction of the mod. That's one of the main reasons I would not want to have it on the repo in a state like the oldfullsize.
What's your opinion on the “airplane surface controller,” stall angles, and lift/drag changes added in 0.9? Do you think we will start seeing more people submitting plane mods or was it not a significant change?
I do want to upgrade this plane to use the surface controller & take advantage of stall angles. It's great stuff. RE: Plane mods, I don't think we'll be seeing them come out any faster considering these changes only add more possibilities, which could be more intimidating.
For some reason, watching that made me think it would be amazing if eventually there were planes capable of carrying loads from the ingame props on delivery-style scenarios. I've tried taxiing through the little inlets of Jungle Rock Island without beaching in the seaplane variant but I haven't tried following roads before.
I'm not sure if I'm the only one who noticed this but the name has changed into L19. Btw The 0-1 Bird Dog and the L19 are the same plane
I spent a couple hours flying this thing a couple weeks ago, it's probably the most fun I've had in a plane in BeamNG so far. The controls are very nice to setup, even using a controller, and it has just enough agility to perform aerobatics while still being a slow easy to predict plane with good STOL abilities. I don't think there was a single stock map in the game where I couldn't find somewhere to takeoff successfully. I made a stunt montage out of that 2 hour session focusing on its STOL strengths.
Great montage dude. I was especially blown away by that upside-down flying on ECUSA, not only you are good driver, but pilot aswell + that music suits the video very well, I was preparing to ask what's the song name and didnt expect it was actually you who wrote it
I made a skin for the aircraft. It is the Soviet 160th Training Aviation Regiment aircraft used in the cold war, I thought it'd look cool in game.
Skip to 1:30 to bypass bloopers - some more attempts at low altitude flying with some impressive pass-unders.
Difficult to control, that's every pilot dream, a well made plane and as I said before the lights of the plane are very good ! Random under the bridge photos
