They don't sound any good when compared to 6+ cylinders.
Direct successors of Sierra and Escort still exist today. They are called Mondeo and Focus.

I can agree with that. I'd love to see what a Twelfth Generation Thunderbird would be like. One of my guesses is that it could be similar to the Lincoln Continental, since there was a few Thunderbird generations that were related to Lincolns.

They kinda did with the Lagonda Taraf.

    Ehhh, I dunno.

Twos I haven't heard much of, but for what it's worth, I actually like the sound of an I3 better than the sound of an I4.

Some of the few that actually sound decent-ish.

    Never heard it

If DiRT Rally is anything to go by it's... OK I guess? I don't really remember.

    Also don't know.

Never heard one IRL, the one in DiRT Rally seemed rather grating.

Never cared enough about that car to pay attention. VisioRacer had a straight pipe compilation featuring another Fiat 1.4T, think it was a Punto, and it just sounded boring. If this is the same engine then I don't hold out much hope for it either.

Have to look it up later but I don't have high hopes for it.

Might be OK but I'll have to look it up later.

With UEL headers, it sounds OKish muffed, or like it's on its last dying legs unmuffled (especially the older low-rev models). With equal length headers, it just sounds like a boring I4.

On top of everything, pretty much everything you mentioned there was from a sports model. The typical mass-market I4 is just going to sound boring if it's refined, or like it's grinding itself to dust if it's not refined. They just won't rev high enough to sound decent. Furthermore, the modern breed of eco-turbos sounds worse than the older NA engines if the Chevy Cruze is anything to go by (seriously, look it up, not even a straight pipe can make it sound exciting), and even the "good" I4s don't do for your soul what another engine type would. I haven't yet heard a crossplane V8 I didn't love, and I can only think of one or two V6s that doesn't sound pretty decent as well.

Also, I don't see a problem with Stutz returning, or that car for that matter. I mean, it'd probably better than a few other luxury vehicles if it did come back (in the right way).

The Stutz can come back, but it would stick out like the sorest of thumbs.

My reaction to the car is confused.

I thought that Toyota was the sorest thumb yet. Maybe Suzuki or Lada as well.
Not sure about the 1940s Davis company though. Considering they barely made any vehicles that never reached full-on production, and the founder was convicted of crimes, I'm not sure if that company will ever return at all.

(Late reply, never got a notification :|)
You're comparing an engine that has quarter of the cylinders less.
Least all inline fours have a different sound other than sounding like a slightly clogged V6.
    OT:
    British Leyland.
You look better broken down on the side of the road in a BL car than driving a (modern) Peugeot on the streets...

    Link example
Morris Marina wasn't a bad car... and the Austin Allegro was just a normal car with slight cockups made in it.

We were discussing the styling of BL cars, right?

I can think of quite a few BL cars that were kinda ugly (like the two mentioned above) while also being fairly typical BL products in terms of quality of construction (or lack thereof).

I personally know a guy who owns an Allegro 1500 and he was legitimately surprised when I told him that they were thought to be unreliable POS cars. He owned it for several decades and never had issues thanks to regular maintainance. Having a reliable car from BL must've been a crapshoot, I think it was mostly down to the rebellion at the assembly line.
