Thanks for the feedback! Technically the map isnt finished, but I have put it on the backburner for now with other exciting things in the works. The extended highway isnt really meant to be apart of the main map. just a little something fun for people want to play with their top speed cars. Thats why the trees are repeating. Its somewhat optimized and the best I could with do with the small amount of time I put into it. Glad you noticed my custom terrain color maps! I put lots of time into them! I dont think there is anything hand painted in Caney Ridge. I use procedural methods for nearly all of my terrain and forest generation. Good things tend to take lots of time. And I'm sure you already know this but, its a constant learning process that never ends. You can do it if you put your mind to it. From all of your content over the years, you are more than capable. Its all about the vision and dedication to that vision.
Did you build the extended highway in Blender, and if so, where did you learn how to do it? I am wondering because I am making my own map that will also have both two-lane roads and freeways extending off the terrain block, and whilst the first release will do this in rough form using vanilla mesh roads I'd like to improve the appearance of the road in the long term.
I did build the highway in Blender. I used a mixture of irl data (just simple lines representing the road), Beam's world editor(mesh and decal roads), and brute force with Blender. I learned to do this myself over years of "playing" with Blender and watching YouTube tutorials. Cool project! I hope you find success!
