Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 11/4/14) I did make some backups a while ago, so that's already taken care of. I haven't updated those backups in a while so I need to do that.
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 11/4/14) *UPDATE* (1/17/14) Hello everyone, so it's been a little while since I've posted an update. Gladly, I have some more progress to share . I'm working on implementing the car into the game now. At this stage I'm still just working with adding/structuring parts of the car into the game. I've got all of the body panels created and connected to the car, excluding the roof. I also need to add the mirrors too, but I'll leave that for a little bit later because I believe I may need more structural nodes to attach it to. Other than that, I've been tweaking the model, adding to it, and improving the polyflow in areas of the model. Images can help me to better explain, so here they are : I still need to adjust a lot of settings in the Jbeam, some of the pieces are very floppy, and I haven't worked with deformation yet:
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 1/17/15) This is looking great so far man. Can't wait to smash it and drive it fast. Great job.
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 1/17/15) Is there any update on the car ? This is my fav car that's why im so excited
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 1/17/15) There's not much to report on yet. I've just been doing some geometry corrections among other small changes to the model. I'm working off and on with it so it's taking me a little while to get much done. It's progressing though, even if slowly. -- Edit -- I did start working on the interior of the car though. Along with that, I've decided that I'm going to focus on either the implementation or the modeling; instead of trying to do both simultaneously. I'll probably finish up the model before I continue working on implementing it into BeamNG again.
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 1/17/15) Great, are you going to make a normal version 4-door sedan ? That would be great too
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 1/17/15) I'm not planning on making the sedan version. However, I am considering making the E46 M3 Coupé (non GTR). I believe that someone has already started a project on the sedan version though.
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 1/17/15) I have an e46 m3 6 speed if you need reference pictures. Awesome project, i'm really excited for it.
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 1/17/15) I have a lot of reference images right now, but I still could use more. I'll send you message containing the areas of the car that I could use extra images for. Thanks for the offer!
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 1/17/15) I hope it's done soon. I would love to see this car in the game
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 1/17/15) I still have a lot of work to do with it. I can't say exactly how long it will take but it will get there.
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 1/17/15) So as many of you probably know, this project has been reluctantly peering at a cemetery lately. While I don't have much progress to show now versus when I last updated it, I am planning to make a change of pace. This project has been open for close to a year and a half and it isn't complete yet. So because I want to finish this project I'm changing the way I handle it slightly, by setting a deadline. So that deadline will be July 1st! No, I just joking (I'm sorry, I know it's been too long). I want to give myself enough time to comfortably complete this while working at a reasonable, non-slow, pace. So I've decided to give myself a max of four months to complete it. I'll do the best I can to make sure that everything is finished and in working order before or by the deadline. Four months is a while to wait, so to compensate if I finish a lot sooner that I expect too I'll first open closed beta testing; even if I'm the only one to participate . But seriously, I'll do a closed beta first and If that finishes far before the deadline I'll release the car as a public beta. Hopefully I can get all or most of the polishing done for the version of the BeamNG at that time. I don't want the project's time to pass the deadline and cause and extension. If everything goes well and I don't run into any major complications I should have this car completed in time. I'm actually hoping to finish it much before the deadline I've set. So I'm anticipating finally finishing this long-driven project and I'll do what I can to not keep you waiting much longer. Release Date: October 15, 2015
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 1/17/15) Pretty excited that the M3 is back The deadline might be a good idea and a way to get motivation but don't overwork yourself in those 4 months though. Also, try to not rush it. Speaking from personal experience, rushing is never a good idea...you'll may end up unsatisfied with the result and you'll have to do stuff over and over. Happened to me with the Shelby. Anyways I wish you good luck and if you need help with something model/texture related, make sure to send a pm
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 1/17/15) I'm really excited that this project is alive and running, especially since I own a E46 M3. It's probably past this stage, but feel free to ask for reference pics. The E46 M3 GTR is very different from my E46 M3 convertible, so I doubt it would be of any use outside of a basic chassis layout and only a few shared body panels.
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 1/17/15) I have a unusual suggestion that you can decide if you want to add later on to this addon. If you would want to, you could add a Need for Speed: Most Wanted/ Carbon skin to your mod, since this is the same vehicle that is in those Need for Speed games.
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 1/17/15) It was announced he would make that skin a while back
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 1/17/15) Not trying to be rude or anything, and the whole mod is great, I'm looking forward to it. But the front bumper looks a little bit too curved, In your picture with the actual real race car in white and everything, the bumper is a lot less curved. Just saying. Can't wait for it to be release!
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 1/17/15) Thanks, I'll look at it again. I generally don't get offended by constructive criticism. So feel free to provide any that you wish. If I don't get to it I'll at least consider it.
Re: BMW E46 M3 GTR Road/Race car (UPDATE 1/17/15) What a Great car , cant wait to try it out good work , keep it up man
