Cancelled BEAMNG UPDATE DELETED EVERYTHING AGAIN! New Project INBOUND

    Deciding to make a new map. Hopefully ill avoid the pissy errors I had. Sorry about the rage. happens every once in awhile due to stupid mistakes on my half




    I put over 39 hours into this map. Had it all deleted once, I decided to remake it. I even made back ups of everything. The update deleted everything for the second time. all I can say is "screw this" because of the time I have WASTED because the update automatically updated and deleted EVERYTHING I had put into the folders. So thanks again, not.

    The beta is up for testing!!! Sorry that I don't have a preview or name for the map. itll be a Torque3d icon and the name will be GriDMap. (don't let the file size scare you, I just have a lot of extra files in there, I'll try and map it so I can remove the contents, because Dry Rock Island and GridMap files are all in the arts folder)
    The map now supports small cars and wont tear them to bits. 2/3 islands are available to cruise around on. Most roads are high speed and off road trails are tricky! Leave suggestions and feed back, (the roads are about as smooth as the terrain editor can make it, I was hoping to use Mesh Roads but they aren't solid or supported. ***By downloading this map you agree that you will not REDISTRIBUTE or try and sell this map. I made the map, but everything in the map is owned by whoever created the files. **

    *UPDATE 9-16-2013*
    I have added multiple things. as you can tell. A small city rests on one of the islands with multiple offroad and on road courses. A lot of smoothing has been done on the roads, but isn't compatible for any non-SUV vehicles at the moment. Roads tend to break smaller cars, and I am constantly smoothing. Details will be added near the end (vegetation, shading on mountain hills ((so its not all grass)) and I will be adding more rock crawling, a drift island and an even bigger bridge:) )

    I have now rebuilt the map in a different way. But now I will have 3 islands. Same Goal as the Old, but better!

    BEAMNG DRIVE UPDATE HAD DELETED MY .TER FILE. didn't back up all the folders I guess. Will have the same concept. but not like this..

    This is my first map that I have created for Drive. I started this last night and I plan on having 2 islands, with offroading, 4x4, rock crawling and just roads to go fast. 3 towns will be placed on the map (the start town, and 2 others. The first island (what you are seeing in the video) will only have 1 town. A giant bridge will connect the two islands. Hence The Titan Bridge. There will be multiple off roading areas, and an abandoned area which will be ideal for drifting. I have a lot of things to do to complete this map to have smooth roads, and great offroading. Ill update this thread when big things have been added. CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM ALLOWED! don't be mean though. that's just not cool. :) Takes about 5 minutes to get around the whole first island if you take it easy:)

    Just a tip when you lay down roads try to make where the roads are as SMOOTH as possible because other people have done stuff on there map with road and there really bumpy roads

    Yes, anytime I make adjustments near roads ill always smooth it over and over. This is only about 3 hours work total so far. I have a lot to do and it'll definitely be smooth (main reason why I wanted my own map :) )

    BETA WILL BE RELEASED TOMORROW 9/17/2013 or the next day on 9/18/2012 PST.

    Please note that this map is VERY road intensive so it will destroy small cars! (for now, until the smoothing process is completely done) and has a lot of files in it. The final version will have everything linked to other sources so the "arts" folder isn't over 200 MB.

    Edit: The roads will no longer destroy small cars (tested with Porsche 911, and Ibishu Covet, little to no damage (accidentally hit a rock with the Porsche) and the roads wont tear apart any car (some taller cars can tip over on some corner if you are going to fast) total of 12 hours of work done

    The updater would not delete your map if it did not conflict with an existing map. All you have to do is not name it gridmap. This is your own fault.

    Bummer man! At least if you decide to continue with this or on your next map this problem can be avoided. If you are interested, the beta version you have up for download isn't working.

    Yeah, I know its my own fault. It was the one thing I forgot to change. But I made a back up BeamNg folder with all the originals because it happened last time, and somehow that folder was also updated. So my backup was ruined. That's where all my rage is mostly.

    Sorry for double post, and yes I realized that. This project is now abandoned, but I am starting a newer one and I will make sure I have all the files in the proper place with its own unique name. I didn't realize it was saving under GridMap (my gridmap was ruined haha) and This new project will just be a huge island in general. All my rage is from my own mistakes and a flaw that happened that I don't even know how. The roads were amazingly smooth too. Well, people will LOVE the new map when it is ready.

    Good luck with your next project, this map was looking really good so I have high hopes for what you come up with next. I would be pretty pissed if I lost all that work too, good on ya for not giving up.

    Thank you. Sometimes I let my anger get ahead of me. But I have started a new project and it is wonderfully huge and already supports high speed driving (completely smooth surfaces and roads) and itll be good:) I have a note on where all my files are going and are saved so I should have 0 problems even if it is to update:) If you think this map is looking good, this next map will be fantastic. Thanks for the support and I'll try and keep my anger down :)
