@AlexKidd71 Is it possible to copy water terrain and other water-related materials and terrains over to other levels, if I wanted to, say, replace all of the road on a level with water?
Hey @AlexKidd71 your tool is epic. Can't thank you enough. I've found the new level wizard doesn't take me through the base color step. And I think I keep hitting the wrong option and end up with an uncoloured terrain. Is that a bug or is it something I'm doing wrong? It's possible I'm not being methodical and causing something to be missed. Also could I ask your thoughts on adding forests/trees? Im sure it's something you want to do already, but as you say it's a hobby project. I wondered if Landsat ie vegetation coverage data help define tree/shrubdensity/ground cover within the OSM parcels? There's several data sets online, here is one example ( though it confuses some of the lakes) https://livingatlas.arcgis.com/sent...&mainScene=|NDVI+Colorized+for+Visualization| Second q is power lines and barriers along roads. What are your thoughts on this too? Could it be added as something adjacent to roads? Or perhaps it needs its own path? Curious to hear if you've thought about this and what challenges or ideas you are thinking of. For feedback, could I request the terrain basecolor cache be made global (like OSM cache) so if I create an alternate version of a map to test a different terrain style, I don't need to download the google sat tiles again? Above all, amazing work, I love it. Keep it up, im eager to see the next version
Very interesting points Concerning forest/trees: I have been painting on trees thanks to importing assets into the map via your tool Alex, but I was asking myself if it is already possible to just make the forest appear on all the OSM Forest areas selected (and I just don't know how). The creating forest items option seems to be deprecated. Concerning barriers: Once I experimentally exported my map from Nikluz's MapNG website and some barriers appeared all by themselves. They were sadly rotated 90° but they must have come from some OSM data present at the location of my map. Anyway none of these questions are urgent, enjoy your vacations Alex!!
Help! I just wanted to import more terrain textures to my map, and now almost everything is a no texture error. I don't know what to do.
I would like to help but when I had the same problem I couldn't figure out what was going on. In my special case upgrading from 0.37 to 0.38 did the trick, but that's probably not what's happening to you.
Hello, im probably at fault but i simply cannot get roads or buildings to export/show up in beam, im tearing my hair out, they say selected/enabled in mapping tools yet in beam its just a blank terrain. The height map is working correctly however its just a dirt terrain. Please help
Pretty sure you didn’t enable road smoothing on one of your materials. Like asphalt. Then you have to select the osm road layers there at the material.
Very useful information for Gotthard (and Stelvio) research purpose: I did not know the Gotthard tunnel was over 3 cows long.
Hello I am trying to get the basecolor so I am able to use the terrain in blender however not having much luck. Is there something I am missing? Thanks for all your videos Alex
New update is out. I made my own biome tool implementation because I missed some features in the built in one. You can select single trees instead of the whole brushes if you want to. I hate the dead douglas fir tree Then I have a zone system. Like Zone 1 is empty for 5 meters, zone 2 has high density of bushes and trees for 20 meters, zone 3 fills the rest low density with trees. Just to get a lower tree count. https://github.com/alexkleinwaechter/BeamNG_LevelCleanUp/releases/tag/1.6.1 Cheers!
Darn I am just traveling and away from home Can't wait to try this!!! I'll make sure to abstain from using any dead Douglas Fir trees :-D
I simplified terrain generation by adding auto assign materials to osm layers. You get a one click roads and forest and grass setup. So your first terrain is generated in minutes.
I have a quick question: how hard would it be to add a feature that automatically (or manually, if someone wants to select specific buildings for each placeholder) replaces the blocky buildings that MapNG makes with the world editor's building assets? I'm not requesting it as a feature or anything, just wondering how a feature like that would be possible or not
