damn that's a huge different from 3.7 to 4.2ghz. Anyone know why exactly? - - - Updated - - - are you using speedfan to read temps? I thought my apu was only hitting 45c as speedfan said when i overclocked it to 4.5ghz, but then it shut down while playing beamng and i got a little curious. Turns out it was hitting near 90c under load I use hwmonitor and hwinfo64 to monitor temps and stuff
The ratio of MBeams/s to GHz is nearly identical in all of those tests. It's entirely normal. EDIT: Oh, I see... there is a rather remarkable difference when you get to a higher number of vehicles. Perhaps due to a phenomenon with they hyper-threading?
Yeah, in pretty much all temperature monitors (Including HWMonitor which is what I use all the time) they say my CPU idles at freezing temp (0C/32F) and runs at whateverC/100F under full load when in reality it runs at whateverC/120F under full load. (I love my AIO water cooler :3)
I highly suspect this is Boosting to either 3.9 or 3.8GHz. Check with CPU-Z if you want to verify while running the bench. - - - Updated - - - Yeah, it definitely seems to be underperforming at stock clocks. Going by Beams/s/Core/GHz, its performing at roughly 2.8GHz when 'stock'.
I have no idea what the problem was, but it may have something to do with my voltage settings. After resetting the voltage as well, the MBeams/s jumped to 54.540. Perhaps Intel CPUs don't like having more voltage at the stock clock .
I use both AMD Overdrive and CPU-Z. Plus I use my hand next to the fan, at the time of the test was running at 49degrees and the air blowing out of it was room temp. I had only turned it on 10 minutes before using it, so... I really need a better computer...
hmmm, the bios itself could be reading it wrong (and the MB would be what would be throttling it, so it might be reading the temp incorrectly, causing it to think that the cpu is overheating) or your cpu could just have something wrong with it many things could be causing this
Here are my improved results, no increase in o/c (yet), just fiddling with the switches (memory timings, ganged, interleaved etc.). May I ask for updating my entry? Oh and by the way, is it normal that it detects only 4 GBs of RAM? There are actually 8 GBs inside the box.
Another entry, my dad's Toshiba Satellite P750 laptop I use every now and then. Although CPU does a decent job, the nVidia GPU (GT550M) is pathetic which makes it a mediocre entertainment platform. EDIT: correction, it's a GT540M, that explains its mediocrity .
CPU-Z says it goes up to 2596 MHz but when it gets hot after running the test a few consecutive times it sticks to 2,0 GHz and won't go past 26 Mbeams/s.
i ... er ... updated my core2quad Q9300 CPU, motherboard and RAM a little ... (i dunno why there is just 4 Gig shown? actually there are 16 Gig installed ... )
