Update is LIVE! We've spent the past couple weeks adding dozens of miles of new trails to explore/wrangle. Also, we've been hard at work bringing the map to life with new vegetation and hundreds of thousands of stones/rocks/boulders. Night time has become more.... nighty. Thanks to a customized cubemap and some lighting changes, we feel we've hit the(a) sweet spot. And speaking of sweet spots; we are in the process of adding many new locations and trails to explore! Thanks for your support and we hope you enjoy what we've created thus far.
Be good to know how much of the assets were made from your own hands. I can see some probably are, but making people pay for a map you made, using the in-game tools from the original game devs, assets from the game devs and textures seems to leave a bad taste in my mouth. I mean, we already paid for the content in the game once. The cars I get, people made those from mostly if not completely from scratch using tools outside the game itself. Just my thoughts. Regardless, its a nice map you've made using the in-game editor.
Dude if someone tried to make a map without using the vanilla assets it would take many years... For vehicle mods most people also reuse vanilla assets, it speeds up the process, why do something that has already been done before much better than you can do it yourself
So if the thing that's better than you can do, was already paid for by everyone, why ask someone to pay again when you've moved them in a new arrangement? And the fact the vanilla assets took a long time is why we've paid for them... no?
Making a map is much more than rearranging the position of assets, although it's a good point that reusing them should make it cheaper in theory as we already paid for them
Yes it is more than rearranging assets. My biggest concern is that it leaves a real bad taste in my mouth that this creator is happy to take lots of assets made by the devs, make a new map using all the devs own made tools and assets, then lock it to a paywall to anyone, technically including those original developers. Like, what? "Hey, all those things you made, they look great, and loads of people paid for your game. Let me take all that, use your own tools you also made/developed to design my own map in your game and make you pay for it again!" Seems totally cool to me...

You are right that just isn´t fair. I think all people who additionally sell beamng assets (maps, cars) should pay a licence fee for it. That way the money will go back to help with the further development of the game. Same goes of course for youtubers who use beamng content. I doubt that by buying the game we all have acquired copyrights on the content, too.
... I really hope you are joking. You literally can't make a mod without using a bit of vanilla assets and you can't make a video without using vanilla content. Nowhere in any rules does it say that you can't record videos of this game. In fact if you couldn't then the game wouldn't be popular so the devs most likely agree with youtubers making the videos of it, if they forced them to pay license fees then they would make less videos and the game wouldn't be as popular. If they didn't allow this they would take down all of that content.
Even if people don't agree with using beamng's pre-existing resources for a paid map, there is also the time, skill, and effort involved in making a high quality map that I am happy to pay for.
The map is really coming together, I’m glad the issues from the controversy a while back seem to have been resolved.
I'm not defending but why dont you go download the free maps then... I cant understand the logic behind these types of comments
Can you please list some FREE mod maps that have similar size and detail? Something with elevation changes, crawling, racing, destruction, all with PBR, chock full of detail, and for free? I get that you don't like paying 4 bucks for a mod map with thousands of hours poured into it but if you created something of this scale you would want some reward too. So please, list me some free mod maps that are better.
