Beautiful as always. You made that look good though, the 5 different types of grass keep it from being uniform, and give it that "nature's randomness" that it surely needs. I will surely do a bit of work on Canyon of Speed - but I promise not to hurt it - I will keep it all original, just fix it up a bit, so it has full AI paths, and convert it to the new version, so it is not lost in the future. That Canyon of Speed was the whole reason I bought this game. I can't tell you how many hours I spent driving around - or just dropping pianos (or trucks FULL of pianos) off the cliffs. But I love it! Youtube user CrashBoomPunk actually asked me about it a month or two ago. I will let him know I have your blessing. I don't like to take other's fine work and touch it without written permission. I got Ouerbacker's permission to make Nevada Interstate from Black Hills 2015, back 2 years ago. It was a blessing that brought me to make maps. Thanks for the permission, and also, thank you many, many times for your maps, your talent is a blessing here on BeamNG site. There's not many with the vision, talent, and motivation that you have. Sure, I can build a highway, a town, even one that exists in real life, but it will never be as pretty or authentic as what you've built - but hey, you can't build if you don't try! --Cheers! P.S. I still haven't managed to make that big broken bridge jump with a truck full of pianos yet. The high one not the one near the start. Sure makes some awesome noise when it falls down into the canyon though, heh heh.
just tried it for my first time and i noticed none of my vehicles could turn properly so i tried another map and i could turn again. is this map causing me to lose the ability to turn my wheels or something? it was kinda odd
Hello @cheyguy ! There is no link between the map and the vehicul's control that I know of.. I've never seen this kind of issue sorry.
A map shouldn't be causing that type of bug period. Period. However, there's likely something else at play. What's the amount of RAM in your computer? Do you have 8GB or less RAM and a lot of mods by chance? Something is definitely confused. You could honestly have a vehicle mod that gets buggered by some reason *cough* early alpha game with mod support *cough* (devs: NOT A COMPLAINT!)... Disable *ALL* of your car mods and just leave this map as the only mod (yes even take my mods out *cries*, to test). Then try it, it should be fine. @DoullPepper I've never seen this bug either and your map works fine on my end and I have a few dozen mods on here, mostly map mods.
That's been going on for a few revisions now. They must have changed the way one type of texture is handled and that's the result.
Unpack the mod and try replacing the materials.cs file located in Altitude/art/shapes/groundcover with this one.
DoullPepper had the material Alpha channel for several of the offending groundcover objects set at a value higher than 1, which causes issues in some cases such as with this. I imagine a similar fix will work with Canyon of Speed, I'll have to check.
Keep me posted! --- Post updated --- Uhhh... question. It didn't work. I tried putting it in and it didn't work. I'm subbed to the addon. What I've tried is unpacking it, doing this, then restarting and testing the map. Didn't work. I repacked and tried again. Still didn't work. Am I doing something wrong here?
I didn't even extract it. Just opened the archive in 7-zip, dropped the new file in, "ok to add" and that was it. When you copied "material.cs", was there a prompt to "replace file of same name"? If not, you put it in the wrong place.
I unsubbed from the repo version and downloaded it and installed it myself, I tried it on both this and the fog version. I opened it with 7zip, went to art/shapes/groundcover/ and replaced the materials.cs and made sure it changed (the date was different on the file), then closed it, started the game up, and still got it. http://prntscr.com/p0k09j http://prntscr.com/p0k0cg Also noticed it with the stuff over the tunnel too.
My maps are quite olds now, but I have a new version of Altitude in my pocket with the remastered stuff of ECA, but still WIP. Even if it's only a kind of hotfix I could think about doing an update. If I found a little time ... And I'm currently working on Utah, I did also a great stuff on it. In the next months it's not impossible I will do a remastering of Canyon of Speed..
As for altitude I would focus on fixing those materials.cs files first for a hotfix update, BeamNG.drive no longer likes alpha values higher than 1 in materials. It's quick and should fix most of the graphical issues. A similar update would help Canyon of Speed too I think.
