(Very big) Update! Over the last week… I got the engine in! …did some offroading… …started with a bonnet, by taking the roamer’s JBeam temporarily. …and editing it to fit this bonnet, with slightly different properties to fit a modern car better. …with some obligatory crash testing …and a coincidental perfect alignment with the CCF’s bumper support. Driveshafts in! Frame model work, making it look smoother and higher poly. Wings (fenders) started, by taking Roamer JBeam at first… …realising it fit abysmally… …then modelling my own in blender. I’ve realised that it’s easier to model your own JBeam in blender, but only use positions of vertices for the nodes, rather than using JBeam exporter, and coding your own beams and triangles. This is mainly because the exporter is super outdated and among other things, names nodes badly and duplicates beams. After I’d modelled it, I got it in game, by mostly using Cherrier FCV values but editing them where I see fit, and adding a row of nodes at the very top for the panelwork up there on mine. …after I’d done that, I put it in Gridmap V2 for some crash testing… …and noticed many, many bits of the car needing work. Leaving that for later, I decided to add the front bumper. This was also temporarily meshslapped from the Roamer, mainly for visuals, since the roamer’s bumper is primarily attached to the frame, but this car’s primarily attached to the wings and front-body. With temporary unwraps. Bumper done! (yes the temporary texture for the DRL is emissive) @Theo Wilkinson made the firewall and A-Pillar stronger for better crash safety. …still not perfect, this roof acts like aluminium foil. @Theo Wilkinson also added doors, both front and rear. …which were then crashed into at 109mph by a CCF …and temporarily unwrapped by me. I also, for the sake of consistency in the looks of it, since the rear doors have the trim on them, added the flexbodies of the wheel arch trims to the parts they’re gonna be on. They’re gonna end up with Tograc-style separation. Headlights in! These were quick but still needed work so they don’t damage other parts around them. Headlights done (JBeamwise), they don’t fit perfectly but they’re completely stable and headlights never matter much for deformation. Here’s a cool glow-in-the-dark front DRL pic: With those done, I started thinking about the frontal styling again, editing those side blades. Polyflow improvements as helped by @Nacho Problem, which, in turn, made it a lot higher poly and smoother. Done! …which is, once again, where we’re at today! As always, thanks for the attention on the mod, and hope to see you guys until it’s released! Next update on post #172
Will you still be keeping the other bumper too as a high trim level option? The flow of the other one was and look of it was way more appealing and clean
Amazing work! This and the CCF will fill two major holes in the BeamNG core content. Love that it's based on the TNGA-F platform. Keep it up!
This looks amazing! Maybe you could add a trim similar to this: A more sporty body kit with maybe a more performance-oriented tune
