Indeed. A cable is no more reliable than a circuit.

I could see why one may want to purchase it. I'm just not that demographic, I can live without having to pay a 50k base model or excess technology for the sake of it.

Funnily enough, the Sequoia (that one Tundra SUV that not many really care for) is actually near the same base price as the new Defender.

    bad
The 2020 defender has too many unnecessary "features", automatic braking, traffic light recognition and lane keepings are costly s**t, real drivers don't need any of them, and you still have to pay more money because there's no model without them.
And It's unibody, it's a crossover instead of an off-roader.

Isnt the defender meant to be a strong, unsafe, polluting off road vehicle with 90o climbing capabilities. Yes. This isnt. This is one of those high tech toilets. Nobody asked nor needed them. The old models were way better: this new one is the soccermummobile2020

The new one is at least a half-decent SUV.

The old one was an outdated and overpriced car that left its workhorse market to midsize pickups and cheap SUVs, and the offroad one to Japanese stuff, Jeeps and LR Disvoeries.

Basically the only Defender users I still see are public utilities, because taxpayer money is easier to spend than own.

Not really. A car can be strong, but unsafe. A lot of older cars were like that.

It's awesome, I like it because it looks so much better than the older ones. The old ones were boxy and dated looking farm trucks, the newer ones however, look like a more modern family vehicle.

New developement: You have to jack off the tow hitch to adjust it.
    I kid you not.
    This is real.

Feel like that wasn't exactly fair because the old Cherokee is much more related to the new Grand Cherokee.
    I see the point tho.

Reminds me of the "can and brick" experiment.

Smash a can against the wall, and then do it with a brick. Which one hurts more?

verdict: don't buy the new one. get a bollinger B1 instead.

(or one of the thousands of ex military ones that are still freshly out of service.)

Completely different segments of the off-road market.
