Many things wrong here, you said you did it the same as in vanilla cars, but you need to follow that more closely. The slot name matters, it needs to start from skin_ Material names are wrong. They need to follow a pattern: material name.slot name.skin name Global file paths, the textures will only work on your end and won't work for anyone else. You need to use local ones starting from vehicles/ Wrong texture naming convention, texture cooker won't work. Base color map name should end with _b.color.png Materials generally seem incomplete. If you are using material editor, I would suggest starting off from a copy of a vanilla material rather than from scratch I would advise against using normalMapStrength parameter, as far as I know it is meant to be used on maps, at some point it may stop working on vehicles. Modify your normal map to look correct from the start instead All of this is explained in the documentation, please give it a read. Specifically these pages: https://documentation.beamng.com/modding/materials/texture_cooker/ https://documentation.beamng.com/modding/materials/vehicle/typicalmaterials/ https://documentation.beamng.com/modding/materials/vehicle/skinsystem/ https://documentation.beamng.com/modding/materials/vehicle/skinsystem/skintutorial/ https://documentation.beamng.com/modding/vehicle/sections/skins/ Also, please double check all of your other materials if they don't have the same issues, the global file path is the most worrying of them, but the naming convention is also not good.
A big thank you for the help! I will look, what I can do. --- Post updated --- After fixing all the stuff up, I´m now able, to color the interior in black and in brown. The only problem, which is left, is that, every time, I color the interior in brown, it turn red and in the material editor, the material for the red skin is displayed, instead of the material for the brown skin. Otherwise, everything works so far.
I got some of the interior skins partically to work. When everything with this is finished, I will add gauges and release this mod on the thread. It is at an acceptable state and I did everything, to make it as good, as possible. My next mod after this will be another vanilla car edit, with the hope, to learn more about everything Beamng modding related. --- Post updated --- Okay, after a day of hard work, I made the following decision: The interior Color is showing me currently a "no normal" error and so does the body texture. Luckily, I made a backup. Tomorrow, I will quickly fix it up, eventually remove the ability, to color the interior in the interior color slot, but therefore over the second color palette. Then, I will revamp the configs and then I will kick it of. I did everything, I can do with my current skillset and I honestly don´t want, to waste my time on it anymore. I already put to much effort into it and thanks to @Agent_Y, I even learned a lot about modding. But I will continue my modding journey with something different, than this. I hope, you can understand me. Greetings, Schmitti
I will do my very best. Expect a release of this in this week. I will fix it up and drop it of. I made some great progress and revamped it quite good.
I fixed everything, which I could fix up. Release should be somewhere in the next days. Greetings, Schmitti
I've checked out the mod, and it has great potential! Some issues I've noticed: What's going on here? It's detached from the body seemingly. Huh. Isn't that a bit too shiny? You can make the specular/reflectivity map more transparent, maybe that could work. I feel as if the headlight glass should also change depending on the headlights. At least, that's how it is in most vehicles. The only place this has any mention of a brand is on the steering wheel. And it's Renault. Some clipping issues in the trunk Also, the suspension (and engine bay stuff) is untextured...? I don't think the tails should be lighting up this small bit... I know the amount of issues is probably a lot to take in at once, but don't worry. It's still a fun vehicular One for the collection of 80s-90s frenchy vehicles!* *actually the Nova isn't french but whatever they have deep connections with Cherrier or something i havent read its lore in like 2 months since i wrote it so i forgot it lol
Thanks for mentioning these issues. I will take a look at them. The only thing, I´m not able, to do currently is the headlight glass. Therefore, I need more knowlegde for baking and textures. Sorry. But the other issues, I should be able, to fix.
I just tried the mod, I like it, I know there are things to polish but white rally wheels, a gray interior and the basic version make it go back to the 2000s, thank you very much. --- Post updated --- Sorry, but can you tell me what front that maroon ETK has, please?
Post release update: (Almost) everything, mentioned in here has been fixed. The file on the main post has been updated. Enjoy! PS: I won´t continue this, if there are no more game breaking bugs, because I am quite busy irl. I might post some stuff of a new project, but don´t expect that much.
