Wohoo! I love the onslaught of pre-war cars (including my own) coming to BeamNG now. This is what the game has been needing.
As of now, not much visual progress is to be shown on the mod yet, as I'm first working on a new modding tool for editing jbeams that I will call Beamy. I'll post something about that tool this week in another thread. Yes
Reminds me of AngeTheGreat’s custom engine, renderer etc “So anyway, I casually made my own jbeam editing tool”
:OOO ME SEES, ME WANTS! Srsly, this is looking beautiful and probably the first mod I've seen, ever, I'd be willing to pay for.
What do you mean? Just how they work with all cars. You can modify the parts in the garage. The final full version will have all kinds of variations of part models, for example different cab types etc, that you can switch between. And it will come with a host of pre defined configs for easy choosing.
like for example, a car will usually have a base model, then maybe a luxury or sport model then a fancy top trim model. I was just wondering what trims/configs might be included.
I guess by the description in the OP that the car is a Hotrodder favorite, there will be lore friendly flathead V8. Yes, the V8 was offered only in 1932 model year, but considering the production run of this mod, I believe the maker took that into account. On a personal note, I wanted a 1930-ish car in Beam for a long time. I am very happy this thing is in the works.
Making your first mod paid is a bold move that will need to be backed up with some real quality, but if the quality is there, i am more than happy to sponsor a much-needed pre-war car with my purchase
It's all down to the quality, I just hope folks remember to hold paid mods to an exceptionally high standard. I know I'm excited for a pre-war car, probably my number one wish for BeamNG for ages. But I'm not going to let that rush me into buying something 'till I know it's worth it, not just cause i'm broke, but also cause we'd be setting a standard and encouraging other mid mods to go paid. I remember the first major paid mod here in the BeamNG repo, it was (and still is) hella mediocre. it deserved the review bombing it got. Nowadays most paid mods i see here are developer quality so i respect and support them. Now, one would think the first mod you make can't be developer-quality but the model looks real good and, who knows, maybe this guy's hiding some real talent or experience modding other games. If he really is making a whole beam modding tool too like he claims maybe he's some kind of code wizard and will be the nest great modder in the community. If there's a demo we can see the quality there and make an informed purchase, and if not... Well, we all know there's other ways to test the quality before purchasing. Demo would be the best option though , so preferably the creator should stick with that idea
